Ok, truth pills at ready
“Reset” has been wanky term concocted by those in charge more concerned about pr than hard work of salvaging something from wreck of 12 months ago by at least getting an under 18 team up.
It would gone long way to avoid issues of those who went elsewhere in 2024 not coming back. Rovers pounced here, cdhbu also. Wise up to reality for goodness sake.
Not making the tough call to throw all positions open to start again, president, committee, senior coach.
When was last time “no name”‘coach got job done in OM?
Last few flag coaches have included those with names Johnson, Reid* (salary cap), Curtis, etc. Dean Stone somewhat exception to rule in late 2010s, but incredible DNA in comp as past player and hard working coach.
At end of day CR situation went pear shaped because Peter German put the acid on those in charge and they took soft option.
And you're weak as piss

Rather than be abusive please provide examples of where my arguments are wrong? Happy to be corrected. Just having an opinion on events as I see them with a bit of insight close to action as others have boasted on this forum when offering their take on things. I was very hopeful the “recruiting guru” who was brought in late last year could deliver the goods. Scroll back through to pages 12-13 for my positivity on that front.

I'd think every followers wants to see a competitive corowa next year, from afar there still seems to be a lack of communication between the cluster clubs to ensure there's footy in that part of the world, through mergers. Mergers have worked well in the west of the state and its no longer a dirty word to merge clubs
Totally, 100 per cent on money with this comment. It’s the only way out. But you’re dealing with an incredibly small minded, blinkered, delusional body of individuals who would rather be last man standing with a terribly poor performing footy team than coming together to realise the only way out of this malaise. Some of the most profitable crops have been harvested in this part of world in last four years, but you’ve got 4-5 footy teams that couldn’t beat an egg

German expected afl standards for training as coach of a community town
They were winning games of footy. Tough business O&M. Can you get two more different places in terms of attitude, approach than Corowa and Yarrawonga that are 40 minutes apart? Don’t worry Yarrawonga had fair chip on shoulder in late ‘90s early 2000s until the penny dropped and they took charge of destiny. As mentioned in another post, merger is only way out with rural side of things to underpin their existence. FFS billabong crows have $1m in bank. Why can’t Corowa have something similar with bigger population and connections.

Everyone is a genius with the benefit of hindsight.
First-year back was always going to be tough, fielding sides will be a step in the right direction and hopefully provide a platform to build from in coming years.
Rather than noting past missteps, highlight opportunities for improvement and you may be viewed as something other than a smartarse sinking the boot into a club at its lowest ebb.
Here's your chance to shine, don't squib it.

But the job of getting sides back was made harder than it should’ve been. Roos thirds played in grand final in 2022 and stiff to lose. How the heck does that team fall over? If they handed out four points for excuses then the Roos would be unbeatable flag favourites in every grade. Solution: Mergers

Does it make you a good coach if you can recruit? Isn't that mainly the clubs role and you coach to a certain extent.

hindsight is the league should have made corowa players not returning from and playing in the same league as 6 pointers for the new club to help.

I'm not sure what their recruiting policy has been. North albury you can see a plan to recruit guys from the Riverina. Not far to move and they can train.

Id hope it was to target the best local players in the tdfl, o&k, with one big name recruit, easier said than done I know

Steve Owen has two premierships under his belt as a playing coach, and two years on a list in the big league, he’s fairly experienced, having said that, he was Corowa’s last choice, but deserves respect for taking on the tough job. No one wanted to go near that place as it is well known the board micromanaged every senior coach they got. German, Almond and Burgess are three highly respected coaches, and all got no where. Nothings changed, you’re in strife when your locals decide to stay at rival clubs. Unfortunately they can’t keep pinching the pennies, need to go all out, empty the pockets and hope to build momentum.

The ability to recruit is high on list of qualities of every coach at bush footy level. History says that. I’ve got no doubt Corowa tried every good kid, young talent in local leagues. Chiltern premiership coach knocked back a role if truth be known. They had 5 months start on everyone else given they weren’t playing. But others had a better story to tell. If you can’t get back those who played with you in 2022 they were up against it. There were stories at time the 2022 players they had were cleared under “special permit” arrangements that made it easier for CR to get them back. But we’re ignoring the elephant in room here in that players prepared to bypass. Why?

Found a quote attributed to German on his departure in 2022: “There is nowhere near enough community support” for CR. Same article said he felt club needed more business acumen involved. Code for getting serious.

Pretty thevreason mick mcguane is a successful coach is he understands guys have just done a full day's work and then come to train. Not sure that was high on germos list, great tactical coach, but it's community level still, the requirements were driving a wedge with players is my understanding

He was spot on with this. You look at what happened at Glenrowan, they’d just hit their darkest hour. But the right men got involved and demanded change, brought in some heavy hitters, elite business men, profile recruits, open minded no nonsense coaches, breathed some life back in to the club, put the O&K league back on the map. But sadly, at the end of the day the town weren’t interested in supporting the club, businesses didn’t want to buy in, and no one wanted to take the baton. Corowa’s similar in the sense it’s really a one horse town, there’s flickers of potential there, just need the right minds collaborating. Id love to take a handle on that place, I could get them entrenched in the five with in 12 months and a premiership with in three years.

That dick measuring contest ended with Laz coaching Corowa to a GF win in 2026. You'd pay big money to hear his 3/4 time speech after quaffing a few bottles of Merlot in the coaches box.

boysch, dohdyf tiugfds !!!!!@@ aaarrghh !!! fk 'em!! Yarra shirt-lftrs

"coach, we're playing Albury"

zzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Yes and thats why they were good under his watch.

Will Kaelan Bradkte be playing there as his local club in 2024? Or will he be signing for a Geelong based club
Be a fair bit of Pressure to help rebuild his Junior Club.
For a young guy that might just be too much

As everyday ticks by its getting more and more unlikely he signs with the Roos

They didn't play finals so maybe it wasn't that great. It was driving guys to leave. It's a balancing act to get guys peak fitness without going overboard

Bradtke will still try to get picked up and play vfl at geelong, which is OK, as he will come back a better footballer.

At the risk of sounding like a smarty pants I see tonight Yarrawonga preparing to field two teams in under 12s & 14s in AWJFL this year. What a great spot this puts the Pigeons in going forward. Some clubs in Albury and Wodonga wouldn’t be able to do this and they’ve got a rough combined population of 100k compared to Yarrawonga-Mulwala combined population of 12,000. Both twin towns with positive population growth now and going forward. Corowa population has hovered around 5500 for decade. Its one chance to break shackles was massive residential subdivision that got knocked back. Bottom line in that whole saga was Corowa services (water, sewage) was not up to scratch. Circling back to footy how does CR survive in this stagnation. Yep word begins with M. I’m sorry if this level of thinking is above the hot takes of this forum, but here is the real world.

I will agree on the subdivision
