Now this is presuming they are fully fit and in good form. A few players have pushed their way into our best 22 this year.
Firstly I think Dodd has cemented his place in the team. Has done some excellent run with roles. Today was no exception. He ran with Ling and did a great job. Against the Eagles he nullified Embley. A player who has definately stepped up this year and done a great job since being promoted from the rookie list.
Someone who i didn't expect to play much senior footy this year is David Mundy. What a revelation in defence he has been. Someone who in the past 6 weeks has pushed his way into the top 22.
Similarly Michael Johnson has come from nowhere to play a role in the team. He's been solid in defence against the resting ruckman and has done a bit of work in the ruck from time to time. Though he was dropped from the team a couple weeks ago he did exceptionally well against Ottens today and has cemented his spot against the taller sides in the competition. Someone who is probably sitting 22nd at the moment and is a possible ommission depending on matchups.
James Walker has reinvented himself this year as a small defender and he's doing a great job. Someone i thought wouldn't get 22 games this year because of the inclusion of Black, Schofield and Carr. He's proven his worth to the team.
My 22 (arguments welcome)
F: Farmer McPharlin Medhurst
HF: Schofield Pavlich M.Carr
C: Black J.Carr Cook
HB: Dodd Polak Thornton
B: Walker Parker Johnson
R: JLo Hasleby Bell
Int: Sandilands (wow he played forward today and did some damage)
Mundy
Schammer
Headland
Shock omission is Haddrill. We have so many tall defensive options. Johnson is better at taking the resting ruckman than Haddrill. And Parker seems to be doing a reasonable job against the FF's of the comp.
The emergencies would be Grover, Haddrill and Murphy. I feel bad leaving any of these 3 out but only 22 can take the field. Also Hayden should crack a mention as he was excellent in 2003. But it just seems so far away.
