11-2.

In Chris' first year we won 4, lost 2, including a final.

Last year we won all 4 games he played. Looking back it looks a little harsh he was dropped, he wasn't far off.

We have won all 3 games he has played this year.

Very Interesting and It does back my Claim the Side is Better when Dawes plays as the Structure is at it's best when he plays. Similar Effect Rocca had on the Side

Most def on the improve. Might need to make way though this week for my main man Jabsco Barham.

I'm starting to get the feeling you weren't really much of a rocca fan, but I digress for at least another 30 games from Dawes please stop comparing Dawes and ant, it undersells roccas career and places a massive burden on Dawes who isn't anywhere near rocca yet (and that isnt slight on dawes)

regards
opti's sanity

I am a Rocca Fan and he was 1 of the Main Reasons we Made the 02-03 GF.

I am not Comparing them as Players more Through the Structure Wise where they have Helped out Cloke in the Same Way by Taking some Pressure Off Cloke.

I don't think there's any doubt that having 2 big targets up forward makes a big difference.

In 02 and 03, it was Rocca and Tarrant, and Fraser chipped in a little, while now we have Dawes and Cloke, with the resting ruck helping out again.

I think the difference between now and the 02/03 teams is our small and medium forwards, we simply have more of them, and of a higher quality too.

Great record for Dawes though, he'd be happy to see that.:thumbsu:

Not saying that. Just an interesting stat none the less. He might be like Rocca a bit - straightens us up.

Not sure until this year, he has been used as a third tall and wasnt much of a contested marker or even overhead marker

the fact he is there has allowed cloke more freedom tgat I agree, in fact I'd say it's clokes form that has straightened us up

Well that is thanks to Dawes, That Clokes Form has got better

Cloke played well against st.kilda as our only tall

but whatever, cloke's form is as big a deal as dawes' is

Sure is - 2 In Form Tall Forwards make us a Very Dangerous side like Rocca and Tarrant where playing for us

Disagree, I think Cloke is expected to play like that, Dawes is in some ripper form and he is only 13 games into his career, and the amount he has helped Trav cannot be under estimated.

The fact that Dawes is playing like this so early on is what makes it a big deal, Trav should have been playing similar to what he has in the last 3-4 weeks every week since he won the Copeland.

Trav went backwards in '08 and '09 and now Dawes has free'd him up and taken some of the pressure off.
But both are playing very well.

Dawes seems to mark alot on his chest. Taking marks above his head while leading or contested, seems to be his week point. He will have to improve that part of his game if he is to make it in AFL.

He does tend to this a bit too Often but he is better then he use to be. Did you see Dawes take a Strong Contested Overhead Mark when 2 North Players where on him

I'm either stupid or blind.
I don't know where people come up with this perception that Dawes is a weak overhead mark?
I have seen him take plenty of strong overhead marks and contested ones at that.

It's a real testament to the coaching panel and the faith they have shown in Dawesy and all of our key position players really.

We could have easily gone for someone like Fev during trade week but time and time again we heard Hine and Mick and co talk about the opportunities players such as Dawes and Jack and Reidy and Browny down the other end would get. We even haven't given up hope on Rus yet either.

It's great to see Dawesy going well and also great to see Jack playing some strong footy in the VFL too. Has amassed 20 shots on goal in two weeks whilst averaging between 15-20 disposals from FF too.

Really want to see how all three (Trav included) go in the same team.

That point and the fact that Did's, Medders and Leon are all hitting their straps and that Beams and Sidey, along with "The Boot" are all in sizzling form is the catalyst for Cloke's good form I think. And Cloke was outstanding last week v the scum and on Saturday night v NM.
To be honest the entire side has hit a new level in the last 3 matchs after some patchy work early.

Criticism of Dawes' marking is over the top on this board. The way some posters talk you'd think he'd never taken an overhead mark in his life. Fact is -- and I've seen him play plenty of times in the VFL -- he does have 'hard hands' when he's a bit down on confidence and form. He will go through streaks where he gets into a great marking position, gets two hands to the ball, then shells it. BUT, and this is something that doesn't get mentioned, he also goes through streaks where his marking is excellent and he's a serious aerial threat.

So he's not a routinely poor overhead mark by any means. Think he's already shown that over the last few weeks.
