Bacon is probably the most overrated thing on the planet. Annoyingly salty and fatty food that pales in comparison to superior forms of protein. Terrible burger ingredient. Only decent when served with eggs on toast.

Nah not at all. Though I think most get it wrong when they don’t buy streaky bacon, and also when they don’t cook in the oven.

I like it but imo you only need very small amounts of it for flavour. Like a few bit mixed in scrambles eggs of a caesar salad.

Eating like 1 or 2 whole rashers for breakfast is way too much and not good for you.

Barbecuing/grilling

Pretty sure at this stage I prefer every form of meat pan fried
I like the taste of BBQ but it's such a hassle cleaning the BBQ after.

I'm not the type to leave it sitting there so need to clean it while it's still warm.

So much easier just cleaning a pan.

Pan fry, then oven crisp that bad boy up.

Funnily enough bacon in the sand which press does the same thing, real prick to clean though

I did streaky bacon yesterday actually, I do it on a wire rack and put it on a tray and save the bacon drippings for later.

If you really want to render all of the fat out you can do it the same way as above but at 120 celsius or thereabouts, will render out more fat but will take an hour or two. Bacon ends up quite hard and will need to be used as bacon chips etc but you get a lot more bacon fat.

I can't remember which TV chef said it, maybe Heston, to combine crispy bacon and medium cooked bacon in a sandwich. It sounds like a winning combination.

Probably once every two months I'll fry up a couple of eggs and bacon, then whack them in two wraps with grated cheese in a sandwich press for 45 seconds, whip them out and give them a squirt of BBQ sauce straight out of the fridge.

Sure, not the healthiest brekkie ever, but definitely a 'so bad, but so gooood' type deal. Have never regretted it

Bacon. Gross s**t.

I totally disagree but I get annoyed at how much people go on about it (ooh everything’s better with bacon).

I like to cook streaky bacon slowly in the oven and save all of the fat for frying onions, making gravy etc

Bacon jam on toast is pretty awesome

I love it
I get why people love it. Its in our DNA to be attracted to high fat foods. An evolutionary trait. The same reason KFC smells good. But when I eat bacon I can't help think how processed it is to taste the way it does. And knowing that there's overwhelming evidence that processed red meats cause cancer - Id rather pass on it.
