Pendles for mine.
He makes things happen when he gets the ball. Selwood is a champ but Pendlebury is the next rung up.

When their careers are finished Pendles will be remembered for making time stand still when he has the ball and Selwood for creating a way to recieve free kicks.
Pendles is a awesome player.

I think like most I am blinded by my hatred of Selwood, great player but f*** does he s*** me to tears! I hate Collingwood but I love watching Pendlebury.

Very different players. I'm biased so of course I'm going to say Selwood but if I had to choose one of the other it would be tough.
Surprised neither has won a Brownlow.
Both champions that will go straight into the hall of fame.

While I agree Pendles "moves better" and can evade trouble unbelievably well, I'd argue that Selwoods career highlights would be better to watch.
There have been very similar players with similar size and attritbutes who have played much like Selwood before (Garry Hocking, Paul Kelly and Michael Voss come to mind). He's almost a throwback.
However Pendles is such a unique player- I can't think of any other players in previous decades who play in a similar way.

I've always felt Pendlebury is one of the more overrated football players I have ever watched. Some would argue Selwood is classified in a similar category but most football pundits have had Pendlebury in their top 10 for many years. Pendlebury's hype has died down in recent times as a few midfielders have come along and out shined these two.

Selwood is a better big game performer in my view. He has more influence on his teams output when the chips are down. Pendlebury is a lot more finesse & polish. The type of player that starts to dictate terms when the team is already ahead in a game. Pendlebury's teammate in Dane Swan often stands up when his team needs it and he has done it consistently since debut.

Pendles.

Nothing against Selwood. Pendles is just a better player. He has a game that is pretty unique and one of the most damaging in the AFL.

Agree he and Swan stat pad with there one two ring around the rosey handballs.

Pendlebury. Selwood will be always known as the bloke who played for free kicks, not that he isn't a good player but.

Pendles is a great on field leader and a brilliant player.

Its kinda weird neither has a Brownlow though.

Only by the uneducated will Selwood be known for that. You attack the ball as hard is him you get frees.

Selwood; 3 x B&F winner, 4 x All Australian, 3 x Premiership winner
Pendlebury; 4 x B&F winner, 5 x All Australian, 1 x Premiership winner

Poll should be a lot closer than what it is.
I'm guessing after 2016, folks will start changing their minds again.

Pendlebury would hugely benefit from having Selwood two steps closer to the ball, handing it off for him to use.

Scott has one issue with his game and that is he isn't very quick, that disadvantage would be negated a bit with another player (like Luke Ball) digging out the ball so Pendlebury doesn't have to be touching opposition players when he takes possession, so they can't tackle him as easily.

Two steps advantage from Selwood turns clearances into inside fifties to advantage into marks and into scores.

I would take both.

Selwood has accrued more Brownlow votes too.
