Respect is an odd choice of words. Its very broad. Did I respect his intellect? I didnt know his intellect. Did I respect his humanity? Yes! to the extent you can for someone you do not know. Brilliant footballer, respected his ability, clutch player. Could do with someone like him now.

Don't we already have one in Gaff?

Gaff is great, but he isn't as damaging as Matera. Gaff on one wing and Matera on the other would do just fine thanks. Gaff at the contest, Matera sitting off, take possession, 2 bounce run, followed by a penetrating 55m kick.
