Planning for 2018

Really hope we get open bench positions this year, so we aren't tied down to picking 2 bench rucks who will never play.

I think one of the Traders mentioned the idea in passing at some point. Would be a good tweak.

I'd only go with Titch.

Given the Titch is more consistent there will be less wavering in his price, whereas an opportunity to grab Danger for a bit cheaper may arise. It's a fair chunk of the salary to start with both.
From after Round 8 last year Danger only had one score under 110, he went into last year averaging 117 in 2016 and still managed to up himself raising in value and averaging 121 for 2017. He had a ridiculous season, ditto Titch. I don't want to make it a battle between the two, I want to have both in my side. Because they're both picked by such a large percentage of clubs if they get an injury or become rubbish it's going to hit a lot of teams, where as if you're part of a minority who doesn't have them and they go big it can hurt your ranking. Especially if they're a popular captain option.

Titch is a lock, going for Zerrett over Danger is a whole different question. I think you can't afford not to have at least two of the three.

Ill most likely pick one of Titch or Danger for captaincy. Very unlikley i have both.

Minor concers with both

Titch - 'The tag' started copping it a bit later in the season i feel be will cop more tags this year than last

Danger - Ablett effect. Does he lose some of his points to Gaz.

At the moment i have Dangerfield. From memory he avg 125+ over something like the last 16 rounds. His scoring actually was better in the games where he spent greater time forward. Does Gaz also reduce tagging attention.

It's a great debate, Titch,Danger and Zerrett are in my eyes are the big 3 mids comfortably. I think it may be too much coin to start all 3 and not weaken other lines, but I think 2 of the 3 is necessary and try and get the other as soon as you can. At this point id rank them

1. Titch- will carry on where he left off, no question over role. Doesn't do much with the ball, don't see many hard tags

2. Zerrett- no question over role, young so may still have some improvement left in him

3. Danger- slight question mark over the forward/mid split and the Gaz affect. Will still be easy top 5 mid but may drop down 4-5 points possibly

On the worry of Ablett potentially taking points and some midfield time from Ablett can the same be said for Zerrett with Stringer and Devon Smith joining the club. I know neither of them are natural midfielders but there's been a lot of talk about them getting midfield time at the Bombers.

I even just searched Devon Smith in Google to check out his previous averages and ironically an article was published today talking about him and Stringer playing in the midfield: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...s/news-story/63fc2fc09ee6d67959bf2ad63c81af0c

I don't think that would be an issue with Zerrett. He is Essendon's most important midfielder - even if Stringer and Smith both become the players Essendon hope they become, I don't see them taking Zerrett's midfield time. They are there to replace Watson, Stanton and the old boys. If Stringer / Smith get more mid time I think it will push Zaharakis to the wing or Goddard to half back.

Ablett is different - he is potentially better than Danger, or at least interchangeable.

Unless Zerrett changes his game style, or gets an injury, I imagine his output will be more of the same.

Agreed. Zerrett is their link man and huge ball magnet.
Danger will still be a good scorer but GAJ/Danger share much more of a role (unless Danger goes forward - in which case he will score less points anyway), than Zerrett/Stringer or Zerrett/Smith.

Some good points there dude,

Hopefully we can see some early signs through the pre-season comp on Danger & Ablett playing together.

On another note, Supercoach opened over night. I wonder if that'll give those sitting behind button at AFL Fantasy the nudge to open the game today.

They usually update it in February, but who cares IT'S OPEN.

I was hoping for some change to team structure, e.g. 1 ruck bench and a utility player instead of a 2 ruck bench.

Plus now we get 3 weeks of people complaining about the lack of an app.

Seems like Fanhub have a pretty limited budget to get things done.

Call me old fashioned but I'm a believer in the saying "if it's not broken don't fix it".

As TJASTA said they usually give the layout and look a bit of an upgrade in Febuary. I'm not really one for changing the game or its rules, I know every few years they like to tinker with the rules so the the game doesn't get stale but I'm just not for regular changes.

On Fanhub I've been very critical of them since I coped a donut in round one a couple of years and was very unimpressed with how it happened and was then delt with but their budget for AFL Fantasy would realistically come down to the actual AFL itself. I was really satisfied with the game, website and app last year.

I like it, pretty similar to mine, defiantly like the West coast boys in your forward line!
Whats your reasoning for Cam O ?
Thinking he may take a role similar to Docherty.

Ive tried to pick the rookies which I best think will be playing early in the season. But the one thing I'm unsure of is the backline..... Always hard to find the right mix.View attachment 453358
Let the mid-priced madness begin! Rampe, Williamson, Walters can't see any of them improving enough to be keepers or generate enough cash flow. You've also got 3 of the most expensive rookies and they'll play, but bang for buck you've invested 250k more into M6, M7, M8 than me. Look for some cheaper alternatives like mature age players that will cost 190-170k and only carry 1 of those 3. Sam Hayes can't see him getting games to warrant selection, if you are picking because he's got F/R status curious as to why you haven't' started with Lobb as the obvious candidate to get DPP in R6 to allow movement for byes and the rucks.

Yeah that isssue in Round 1, 2016 sucked. Thousands of people affected but they couldn't admit it or come up with a solution.

Hey gang. Not sure where to register interest for fantasy leagues TN is year.

Finished just inside the top 5k last year. If you can point me in the direction that would be great
