Guns n' Rookies w/ some fairly aggressive midfield stacking, thoughts?

Yeh i quite like this idea in general. It will however depend on what the likes of Brayshaw, Dow, T.Kelly do in preseason and whether or not theyre must have rookies in the midfield.

Theres a tonne of value from that 90-106 mark in the mids and youve really capitalised on that.

Hurley shaping up as a POD. Love that, went near 100 over his last 15 games last season. Gun
He's good but I can't see Essendon giving him the ball out of defence this season as much. With Saad, McGrath, Baguley & McKenna in that backline on a fast deck at Etihad I see a vet fast running transition game that'll hurt Hurley's total disposals. Eg. I can't see him get more ball this season than last.

I've got him going 85 or under on this basis. I prefer my DEFs as genuine ball users - Docherty, Laird, Shaw, Simpson ect.

B.Crouch is a beast in the making. Saw a stat on Twitter he is one of 3 guys to av 100+ from <75% TOG. Opportunity & fitness are his only enemies.

Thoughts on Brad Crouch? Averaged 110 from his last 15 games. A lot of those were 70-72% TOG so he still wasn't at 100% peak fitness. Could go 110+ all year. Priced at 103

I won't be starting with him as i think he'll dip in price before going huge, the Crows apparently hold him back early so he doesn't re-injure himself. Could win a Brownlow medal in next couple of years in my opinion.

Wasn't like he has bad hamstrings though, just keeps getting knocked out. Still he copped that huge knock against Koby Stevens last year and walked away and played the game out. He's certainly underpriced and should av 80-85 at season end.
Yep that was good to see he was able to keep going. I did look at him, but i dont know... the amount of changes ill do he will probably be in the team at some point

:thumbsu:
Midfield gun/value stacking is the way I'm plan to roll this year as well and then go with a more speculative bend on the Fwd & Def positions.
and then finish off with a touch of mid-priced madness in the Ruc spots.
Worked well for me last year. I had JOM at M8 from memory and was ranked 35 after the first round. I screwed up my trading though and ended up ranked just outside the top 1000. I started with too many potential def/fwd stepping stones and I made too many sideways trades.

At this stage I'm planning to run with a similar structure in 2018 but with less speculative selections and hoping I can be more circumspect in trading.

GNR with premo ruck combo and unique mid pricers
wigg and lobb keep an eye out for injury concerns
light on for r12 bye players - can be traded away though.

If you're going to start with Ryder and his r10 bye you're going to need to make 3 trades in your ruck division to maintain a premo price score through out the byes or you'll have to cop a rookie r10 ruck score and then have to make only 1 more trade.
Consider starting Kreuzer and then to Ryder after r10 & before r12 and make 1 trade to keep a premo score through out the bye rounds.
If Cameron or English are pumping out premo scores then none of this applies.
The end game is maximum points.

You make a very valid argument for selecting Kreuzer and have made the adjustment.

AB3DF95F-58D7-4B7C-9EE3-856B6DB8FA98.jpeg Hey lads looking for some opinions on my first draft.

DEF: Laird - Yeo - Lloyd ... all seem safe as houses however it really depends on what role Yeo gets and whether he is 100% fit ... I would happily take any alternatives I could downgrade him too for more cash

I like McGrath as a reasonably safe mid pricer with all the talk of him playing through the midfield this year.

No idea about which defensive rookies to trust as the moment (except for O’shay but he sounds rubbish in terms of scoring output) ... probably going to have to wait till JLT.

MIDS: Mitchell (set and forget) Other premiums I’ve gone for slight POD’s just because of their huge ceilings and the fact that every team will have danger and Merritt ... I’m banking on Hanners to return to the beast he used to be and I am more then happy to spend the extra $$ to get the rooks like LDU and friends who should be best 22 in their clubs and play week in week out.

RUCKS: vanilla as hell ... no point going against the trend here

FWD: Billing’s and Heeney are a lock ... now Petracca i like as a POD especially since Melbourne should be pushing for top 6 this year and he will be a big part of that ... Rayner - Bennell - Rioli should all play early season and especially R & B should run through the middle.

Noticeable absentees
* Danger & Merritt: I just don’t want to have the exact same midfield as everyone round 1 ... and if you put Mitchell, LDU, Bradshaw and Dow (who I really want to start with) then I would literally only have 1 POD there in Hanners and I know he is a gamble!

* Rocky: I just don’t feel 100% about the Pig right now ... new team that is already stacked with midfielders and wasn’t the best last season ... I’m sure this one will come back to bite me but I’m happy to risk it for the biscuit and pick Kelly, Zorko and Adams who all have high ceilings also.

* Ah Chee and Lobb in the forward line: mid price madness at its best, ah chee is going to be like the redden of last season ... should be good and will run through the midfield but won’t be setting the world on fire... I also don’t feel comfortable having too many eagles on my field as they are not tradionally a high scoring fantasy team. Lobb I just wanna fit in with petracca on my field and I just feel like petracca has more potential.

This is all obviously just my opinion and I would love to get the forums thoughts :)

nice first post...welcome Tom Mitchell.
Bennell won't play ever again in my opinion, he's got other things on his mind.
is Natanui really going to be that much of a leg up, the Eagles already nursing him by all accounts.
will Rayner score that well? mooted as a small forward...
I like the McPherson pick could be a bolter.

Welcome! Pretty sound team, I do like your POD's, and I am with you on Yeo, watch JLT, i still think he will be worth the case ( i have him) But will be fairly limited midfield time this season as wce could be a bit light on for Medium Defenders.

The J Kelly pick is the one I like, I want to find a way of getting him in my team at the expense of Rocky, but cant find the 70K, I am also not sold on the pig. Hanners HAS to be better this season, as he has been a fantasy gun in the past!
If you dont run with Dow and his mates, and reduced one to a 170K, can you fiddle around and get Bennell to Lobb?

Pretty good looking team though!

I have Josh Kelly going 115-120 this year, absolute gun. Think he'll be a top 3 mid. Has the ceiling and consistency

Josh Kelly was a great POD for me last year, had him all year, even when he went out i traded him out and then back in again. The guy is a machine. I think coniglio will benefit from some JKelly attention, so he will be a nice cheapish option.
Where can i find 70K to go Rockliff to Kelly? Hmm

Possibly a premium rookie down to a basement price rookie

Just on Coniglio, what do you see him averaging? He could be this years Kelly. Every year one or two players make the jump from 90-95 to 110-112. Coniglio is really tempting me
