Planning for 2018

I think there are a few that could score above their average based on finishes to the season. Or injury reducing their average.

Matt Scharenberg ended season well. priced at 77
JJ priced at 76 who knows
Birchall if fit and priced at 68 won't be a keeper but surely outscores a price of 68

Jack Steven previous gun. will be priced well
Brandon Ellis will be priced at 84. Scored below that only once in final 13 rounds. Great if still a defender.
Jack Redden with the ansence of Priddis and Mitchell should play full time mid and will likely outscore his 84 average
Robbie Gray pending pre season role.
Harley Bennell depending on price reduction. If priced at 46 and Coke free.

Gawn at price of 86 average.

James Sicily ended the season well (but that 24???)

Possible people on my watchlist from just scrolling through underpriced players.
That 24 from Sicily cost me my prelim. Wasnt happy.

They have released nearly all the teams positions and prices. Only have tigers and crows left I think. Thought that means it opens this week
I think they are doing the last of the price reveals on Monday.

If the cats want to move forward then I can't see them only running the big guns truth the midfield the whole season. Infact I can see both Ablett and Danger playing in tandem up forward which will be more than enough to cause all teams defensive issues. This leaves them to play Menegola, Selwoods & Duncan in the guts and rotate the other 2 through in big games and crunch moments.
Danger and Ablett will play more in the midfield than up forward.

Drawing board attempt #1. $403k remaining....

D: L.McDonald, Touhy, Williams, Birchall, O'Shea, Doodee, Morgan (BEN), Murray (BEN).

M: J.Kelly, M.Crouch, MaCrae, Fyfe, L.Weller, LDU, Andrew Brayshaw, Dow, Mutch (BEN), Freeman (BEN).

F: Barlow, Billings, Heeney, Lobb, Bennell, Venebles, W.Riolo (BEN), Ahern (BEN).

R: Sandilands, NicNat, English (BEN), McInerney (BEN).

Kelly your go to C option each week?
I would think you would need at least one of Titichell, Danger or Zerrett for a C option.

I'm looking at M.Crouch, Beams, Rocky, Cripps, Fyfe, O'Meara, 170k, 170k.

Thinking:
M.Crouch will be 115+
Beams 110+ but injury prone
Rocky 105+ role questionable
Cripps 100+ underpriced
Fyfe 100+ underpriced
O'Meara 90+ underpriced
Rookies on consideration Wigg, T.Kelly, LDU
Would you not want at least one of Titchell, Danger or Zerrett fro C option?
Cripps and Fyfe are great footballers but I'm not sure they are great fantasy scorers. Not sure either go much past an ave of 105

Discussion point: Thoughts on what a super kid backline would be? Witherden, Burton, McGrath all entering their 2nd playing season and Mills his 3rd. Anyone got other break out candidates?

Remember the 2nd year blues! Although i think Withderden will still be good, maybe too expensive to start with but a nice POD

I think if they play Fyfe forward a bit more he should be a goal or 2 average plus 27 touches, should see his average increase, hes still a no for me too.

With the news of Zac Williams doing his achillies and Wilson now gone, does this now open the door for Shaw to return to his best for the giants?

Very under-priced and will be watching him closely. Players coming off down years / LTI are usually the ones that make or break things (eg. Taylor Adams - make, Jaeger O'Meara - break etc.).

Some have been mentioned, some haven't, but a list I'll be taking into serious consideration who missed chunks of time / had a poor year last year include:

Rockliff
Parker
Cripps
Gawn
H.Shaw
Johannisen
Coniglio
T.Miller
J.Steven
R.Gray

All of these were up there amongst the best Fantasy players in 2016, and picking the Goldilocks amount within the list will be critical IMO.

Yeah love looking into the guys that are under priced for whatever reasons. Injuries are the big one, but one other thing I look at is breakouts in the back half of the year, they may go 70 in the first half and then 90-95 after bye, making them under priced and then leading into a premo year. Toby McLean is one I like as an example of that

Rocky- highly likely starter for me, 105-115
Parker- burnt me bad last year, even when the Swans came good he only averaged low 100's
Coniglio- 10 points under priced from his 105 year in 2016, will only get better too

Good point on McLean.
Lambert from Tigers could be another.

Agree with you on the above. I think I’ll start with Rocky and Coniglio and probably not Parker, at this early stage.

Yeah Lambert is another, started off terribly. Wasn't best 22 and was finding his feet, once he settled and found his feet he was great. Will play midfield most of the year and kick a few goals, think he can go 90+

Quick bit of research using the DT Live stat machine.

Top 15 players in each line over the past 6 weeks (minimum 4 games), and their estimated average based on starting price (using $7060 per point as the magic number):

DEFENDERS
T.Adams: 123ppg (last 6 games); 114.5ppg (expected average) - only midfield available now
S.Docherty 99; 116.6
M.Hurley 98; 93.9
M.Hibberd 97.8; 92.4
J.Crisp 96.7; 88.1
R.Laird 94.7; 100.1
J.Sicily 93.3; 74.1
B.Smith 92.0; 79.5
J.Howe 91.7; 89.7
B.Houli 91.6; 90.2
L.McDonald 90.7; 85.4
A.Witherden 90.0; 85.5
B.Ellis 89.5; 84.4
D.Rich 89.2; 75.5
K.Simpson 88.8; 97.5

So from this, the form players to strongly consider would be: T.Adams, Crisp, Sicily, B.Smith, D.Rich

And you would be cautious about Docherty, Laird, K.Simpson.
