Getting a bit dry in these forums so i thought we could focus on our younger players who don't get talked about that much on these forums...

Let take a look at those who have been drafter in the last 4-5 years. Pick one player and then explain:

1)What draws you to the player?
2)How many more years until they start to perform consistently in the AFL?
3)What they bring to the team - Hard ball get? Strong marking forward, pace etc
4)Weakness that they need to fix

I will start with Brad Dick.

1)I think this guy is going to be a very useful forward at his worst. At his best we will see him kick 50+ goals in 2011. Has the ability to read the play and kick some great goals. Extremely fast and will be perfect for the taps work jolly is going to provide. I believe his best comes in the wet weather conditions and could also have Brad as the game breaker for the pies..

2)I believe that he will settle into the side through the season. Was in and out all season in 2009 and will be out for half of 2010. In 2011 we should see barring injury, Brad dick being a permant fixture in our line ups.

3) brings the enthusiasm and the excitement to the team which can quite easily change games

4) maybe his size. such a small frame player AFL can quite easily be prone to injuries as we have seen somewhat with his shoulder.

Feel free to elaborate on my points :)

Jaxson Barham.

Reasons I'm drawn to him:
1. Love the energy he brings into games and gives the side. Really gives the side a massive lift injecting him into games.
2. Tackling pressure is as good as any.
3. Has a combination of speed and fitness which only Gary Ablett possesses.
4. Is not afraid to take on games.
5. Under-rated and never receives the recognition he deserves from fans which naturally draws me to him.

Till consistently in best 22:
Could be as early as this year if he continues his improvement. Expect him to be a regular from 2011, but don't be surprised if he establishes himself earlier.

What he brings:
Energy, tackling pressure, good workrate, speed + fitness, fearless attitude towards taking on the game. His style of play very much is suited to modern day AFL football.

Weaknesses:
Size and disposal. Both improving but will take a while to fix.

Yep i agree with Barham

Alot of people tend to be put off by his kicking skills however he can be used as a shut down type player ala brisbane and his rising star nomination...

Alot of people tend to think because we have a plethora of midfielders that his position would be hard to crack but if you look at the group he has one trait that sets him apart. That is his pace and also his fitness over long distance. Players would find it very difficult to shut him down if he was able to gain an attacking side which i am sure is being developed.

Just check him and brad dick out.

I think the future is bright :)

Alan Toovey

1)I'm drawn to his winning grin - he's got the most genuine face I've seen on an AFL footballer. I'm sure he'd be crap at poker because - not unlike a dog (although, actually, they DO play poker...) he's wagging his tail with his eyes. He also has his own crowd chant which is, let's face it, very cool.

2)He's performing consistently now. Week in, week out it's tail up, head down, kick wide and run hard.

3)Indefatigable, truculent, enigmatic, loyal, tenacious, ebullient and precipitate. A real goer.

4)To be honest, he needs a little more mongrel but that's going to be a hard ask. Instead, just to mentor with Tarks and hone the skill of the 20-25 metre stab pass instead of having it sail over his target's head.
