Agree with that.
When thinking about your final team, who you won't have is just as important as who you will have.
While starting with two or three lower end keepers (and I'm talking real lower end) may seem appealing, if it means that three or more of the true premiums won't end up in your team it could turn out to be a real disadvantage in the latter stages of the season.
With the increase of quality in the backs this year, there's a far lower chance a 75 average will cut it as keeper material.
I tend to disagree here. 75-80 has a chance of holding as a keeper in the backs IMO. Every year it looks good on paper at this time until the injury train picks up speed. If I looked at my team in Rd1 last year there was no way Stevens was going to be a keeper and I'm sure there's plenty of others in the same boat but he was still there at the death averaging 89. Yet we still talk about a mid averaging 95 to be a keeper even though 6 of the top 10 still had Stevens at the death last year.
Was last year a bad year for injuries? Absolutely not, it was a normal year because every year is a bad year for injuries.
When I look at my team now I can see my final 7 backs all averaging 85+ but in reality it probably won't happen. If you have a player who may pull 75 you can still upgrade them if things are going swimingly but if it's all gone sour you can hold them as a keeper and save the trade. In reality the difference between 75 and 80 over 10 rounds is only 50 points so it's not the end of the earth.

I would like to here this from someoen like Stormer, SD and DW who have all finished high and see what they think.
Yeh, i was just thinking though, does anybody else dislike most of the top teir of backs on offer? Bowden, Hodge, Carrazzo, Wheatley, Mackie, Scottland, and even Embley i dont really like to start in my final team. Im getting the feeling though that i need to squeeze one of them in there...
Chad v Scottland
Both kinda similar IMO...
Chad always has the durability question over his head.Yeah I was probably a bit harsh in nearly writing off the chance of a 75 average being a keeper, but IMO having too many in your backs averaging 75-80 is just asking for trouble.
Just having a look on FanFooty, the positional changes this year have given us an extra six backs priced at an average of over 84. That's nearly an entire backline. Had any of them been backs last year they would have been placed in the top seven in terms of average.
There's a very, very, very good chance that the extent of the injuries we saw last year won't happen again due to the new found depth in the backs this year. With the big six inclusions, they've essentially given us an entirely new, quality backline to choose from this year. As a result IMO the minimum keeper average has increased, and having too many at the very lower end of the scale at the expense of the true guns won't cut it.
houlihan or headland
do you think headland will play in the middle next year?
My forward is the strongest part of my lineup at the current moment with
Pav
Lids
SJ
Sylvia
Thomas
Lucas
Yarran
Ballantyne
M.Brown WCE
However i think myself being so set on the players i have i might be missing on some of the cheaper players such as Higgins, Alwynd davey and Vez all around that 190 - 220k mark.
This strong forward line is making my midfield look quite weak which isnt a good sign but i have also picked J.W.S (most undurable player going around in the backs). I was thinking that im probably better off getting Higgins and a premium back instead of SJ and J.W.S
So this bring me to the comparsion of J.W.S and Higgins (although different positions)

Haven't you said on numerous occassions that you weren't going to post your team on BF?
Thomas sucks anyway
.just chagne thomas to veszpremi and upgrade your backs with the cashthomas sucks anyway
.
D86, i actuall disagree with you saying that the forwarld lines "way more bottom end and mid-range depth in the forward line than anywhere else"
I think the forward line has very little depth of mid prices and bottome end (if this means cheapies not including rookies under 150k). The forward line sure has some excellent rookies to pick from and also some very good 200k players but there is probably only 4 decent ones (Vez, Lucas, Davey and Higgins). After that i only see a few around the thomas price than the rest are all premiums and keepers that show great value IMO.
I think in each position their is a lack of good midpricers.
I think its going to be the spot that is also the most interesting however (forwards) due to there being so many options and quality players available.

however the forwards also show more value at 200k and rookie price than any other position which should be used to your advantage..
Which is perfect considering that is the time I will be expecting to cash him in!I would think he'll rotate through there for all of his 6-8 games.
