This is my fist topic so take it easy on me

I was just wondering with the artical in todays HS about Lloyd's refusal to accept essendons first contract offer. Should player payment amounts be made public property. Personally i would love to see what all the players are earning, instead of seeing reports that i.e. fletch is earning 1.5 over 3 years etc, which is prolly 300,000 over the mark.

Or should we stay out of their private lives on this issue?

why shoudnt we know. The members are the ones that pay them, its seems only fair that we know!

But if not, oh well!

I think that club members should have access to their clubs player payroll.

Unfortunately the number of shady deals between players and clubs means that we will never know if the information is accurate or the tip of the iceberg.

I agree that at least members should be permitted access to such information. After all, they are the ones funding it. But unfortunately I also think that greggo is right about the under-the-counter deals between clubs and their players that we'll never know about.

I dont believe the Clubs are the instigators of the alleged "shady" salary deals.

Mostly these come from the the players agents!

Actually the players are the ones that pay the penalty , as that usually comes from the ATO .

true greggo, I prolly wouldn't trust anything that they said, and with the under-the-table deals that keep going on, the ammount they you are told wont include the McDonalds that are thrown in....

It just shits me when in newspapers they state "its been reported that he earns ......." when this amount is just derived from the well known formula of asking someone at the local pub..

Hi Silver, welcome to bigfooty.

This is an interesting topic. My opinion is that it really isn't any of our business, I mean, they are employed by their footy club, and their wages are really between them and their employer. I mean, it'd be like having to sit here and tell everyone, or see it on the front paper of the Herald-Sun, how much I earn!!!!! I guess people think that cause these players are public property, that we have a right to know stuff like that, or even as club members, that we need to know. But I just don't think so.

Hi lioness22, and thanks.

It is an invasion of privacy, and we don't really have a right to know even if we are members. But damn it, my curiosity is getting the better of me.
