Still too early to say,
But since I am biased I would have to say that Roughead has probably done a bit more than Tambling at this stage.

After watching Tambling play last week V Blues, it's become pretty clear that he is just not an AFL level footballer, and never will be. The only reason he is playing senior AFL level is because the Tiges list is so poor, and Terry/Miller don't want to publically admit that this is in fact the biggest draft gaff of the decade. All they are doing in fact is compounding the problem of course. What a disaster. :)

The worst thing about losing our match is that you've started posting again after an extended silence following round one.

Tambling had a shocker, but he's been going okay this year. Roughead has been very good though and deserves to win any comparison (if it's even possible to compare the two completely different players)

Tambling was always going to go high in the draft.....

We were just the unlucky team to pick him.

It's a pity Carlton didn't tank in 2004 as well, they have a habit of taking the most hyped players on Big Footy. He, Murphy and Carrazzo would all be running around now missing targets in the Navy Blue.

And yet there's a thread on your board full of people wanting to trade for him.

I think the latest idea for a trade for him was a half finished pack of twisties.

I don't think he's bad... he just ain't great. Then again, he probably looks like a superstar with what you've had to watch represent your club over the years. :)

He hasn't been great so far. He's been serviceable this year, which isn't what you want from such a high pick. He does have something though. He may never fulfill the potential that pretty much everyone saw in him pre-draft but it's still too early to write him off and anyway, he'll be a decent player if not a superstar.

Not a snowball's...

He'll be a serviceable player that was mistakenly picked up too early. Plenty of them around. :)

You mean you were unlucky to have Greg Miller. lol. Can't believe you haven't sacked the guy yet. The relentless list mis-management at Tigerland just continues. The McMahon for 1 mill over 3 years plus a low second round pick is the latest Miller Disaster. When will it end? :)

Richard Tambling

Details:
Club: Southern Districts/Northern Territory
DOB: 12 September 1986 Hgt: 181cm Wgt: 74kg
Position: Onballer/Half forward flank
Natural Foot: Right
Honours:
AIS/AFL Academy 2001
Allan McLean Medal 2002 (best player in Division 2 of Under 16's Carnival)
Northern Territory 2002, 2003, 2004 (Captain)
H.G Harrison Medal 2004 (best player in Division 2 of Under 18's Carnival)
All Australian 2004
MVP of Northern Territory 2004
National Draft Camp 2004
Strengths: Tambling is football’s version of the Human Highlight Reel. An extremely exciting onballer and flanker, he has blistering pace and is capable of the extraordinary. He has the ability to tear a game apart with his brilliant skills, running and ability to kick impossible goals. He has a big leap on him and is very agile.
Tambling is a good leader and was captain of the NT side in the recent carnival. He works very hard defensively, his tackling and smothering is a real feature. His hands are extremely clean and he can be damaging at the stoppages.
Weaknesses: Only weighs 68kg and may take time to put on the bulk required to play at AFL level. Can tend to concentrate on winning the football and not his direct opponent.
Footydraft.com comment: This kid is truly a pleasure to watch. He is already been called the best Aboriginal player of all time, which I think is a bit over the top, but he is going to take the league by storm in time with his extraordinary ability.

that was his player bio before the draft

Jarryd Roughead

Details:
Club: Leongatha/Gippsland
DOB: 23 January 1987 Hgt: 193cm Wgt: 85kg
Position: Centre Half Forward
Natural Foot: Left
Honours:
AIS/AFL Academy 2003
Victoria Country 2004
Forward Pocket in TAC Cup Team of the Year 2004
National Draft Camp 2004
TAC Stats:
2003: 1 game, 1 goal, 13.0 PPG
2004: 16 games, 43 goals, 19.1 PPG
Strengths: Roughead is an exciting tall prospect who can play either as a centre-half forward or centre-half back. He is a fantastic mark, takes a lot of one-grab marks and reads the flight of the ball very well. ‘Roughie’ has fantastic mobility for a big man and covers a lot of territory during a game. He is very good below his knees for his size, and is able to kick some clever goals on the run.
Jarryd is a very versatile player with a massive leap and plenty of potential in him. He is a booming left foot kick and really works hard.
Weaknesses: Decision making would have to be the main query at this stage – can tend to kick without looking or take the wrong option. Can also be slightly unaccountable when playing in defence.
Footydraft.com comment: There is plenty to work with and Roughead looks like one of the best tall prospects in the draft. His goal kicking ability will definitely interest the Hawks.

I think Roughead. He has had more effect on games, and also, if you take Roughead out of Hawthorn's side the Buddy Roughead duo is gone. If you take Tambling out, it's not such a big loss.
