I actually don't think Kane dropped that easily, he was unaware Goddard was going to bump him and he went down.

Don't think he should've got a week though. It's a free kick not a suspension.

The Jonathan Brown one they showed on 360 was worse.

for those who haven't seen this bit of footage, clear cut to me. We just kicked a goal, K Cornes is walking back to the centre next to Goddard, Goddard waits until Cornes isn't looking and gets him square up the middle. Very lucky Goddard is only missing 1 game. Not sure how anyone can defend those actions to be honest, I guess only Essendon could!

FTFY

I wish it was us, we would have won the game.

ah bugger. thought i got it wrong, hahahahahahahahaha

either way not sure how anyone can blame Kane for that. He's entitled to expect no contact in that situation, damn he didn't even have time to brace himself for contact from Goddard. Now if he did that at the bounce, then fair game and he probably gets away with it as it would be deemed as intentional.

It was a pathetic act from a supposed leader at a club.

it was a bump off the ball that happens 100 times a game. Goddard got him good and knocked him over. occasionally you can get hit in a way that hurts more than normal. Kane didn't dive or fake that but still Goddard isn't a dog for doing it. while you're having a rant tell me how Hartlett's was any different. the problem isn't Goddard, or the free kick it's the MRP and tim watson.

Lol how can anyone in their right mind possibly say Kane Cornes took a dive there? He was looking the other way and had no idea what was coming. Watson is a bigger joke than I thought he was. Goddard got what he deserved. Cheap snipe.

Eh, Kornes got a week for a bump that was about half that forceful where a well regarded player took a dive that Matthew Mitcham would be proud of.

I'm not going to cry when it happens to other teams because it ****ing happens to us all the time. No way did Kane dive, he was looking the other way.

When ex players/coaches who are in the media try to stand up for their old clubs publicly they stop being experts and become fans. This Watson article and Dunstall trying to gloss over the Lake incident on On the Couch are perfect examples. It's embarrassing and should be avoided imo.

It wasn't even during play it happened after a goal. Not sure that stuff happens 100x a game so i'm not sure what you're getting at there? I'd love to see an AFL game with 100 goals in it. :)

re: Hartlett, yeah it was an equally dumb thing to do and to the MRP's credit they've have been consistent all year since that in suspending players who do that.

and the problem is Goddard, absolute no need for him do it. At least try and do that while the player is looking at ya! Piss weak.

I wonder if say Hartlett did that to Heppell what the reaction would've been?

So much this :thumbsu:

It's no coincidence that Gerard Whateley and Caroline Wilson are high on the list of most credible of all AFL media commentators, is it. You do NOT have to have played at the highest level to be taken seriously as a football analyst.

Yeah like Ally Clarke ;)

The Bombers said yesterday they had consulted a pair of legal experts but given the hit was deemed intentional they could not find a loophole to challenge.

Haha, the tongue is well and truly planted in the cheek here. I thought you must have added that yourself, surprised to see that written in the Hun!

Was cringing at Dunstall trying to make excuses for Lake. Was a terrible look, and as Robert Murphy said on 360, was hard to watch. Dunstalls attempts to make it seem like it was partially Petrie's fault, and then that it was being blown out of proportion was cringeworthy homerism at its greatest.
As for Goddard. Sniped a player who was not watching. How that cockbiscuit Watson could call that a dive boggles the mind and once again shows how biased so many commentators are when it involves 'former' clubs. Did he deserve a game? Based on suspensions we have had (Kornes himself) in the past. Yes.

Watson is a joke. His campaigning for the club as the seemingly self-appointed parents' spokesperson destroyed any credibility he may have had.

Tredders asking Timmy if he took a dive to get a shot on goal in the '93 Prelim - funny stuff
