So. How about that guy who pushed mitchell in the showdown when he went over the fence?

Media didn't even say a word, and it was on national tv. How about that.

He is confirmed to be 1 of 10000 crows supporting Port Adelaide members. #PortsFault

Doesn't Shiel's new contract take him right up to the point where he can go wherever he wants as a free agent because he would have been with the Giants for 8 years at that point? I know they didn't play AFL until 2012, but I'm pretty sure he was one of the underage players that they selected and played in the TAC cup in 2010. Unless that doesn't apply?

How would Carey stack-up then?

Wouldn't have Carey in either, but Hird's actions were directly related to football, so in my mind he is worse than Carey.

This seems odd now I deleted my post!

I was being tongue in cheek Rick, alllllll good :)
Hahah we can have an odd random discussion then :)

All good..at least we know where Titus gets his material from.

Well, I did hear that Fyfe to Port was a done deal.

Not sure Fyfe would want to come to Port: he's probably still a bit scared of Ollie after last year's final.....

Adelaide overpaid bigtime but Daniel Wells would be nearing Richie Tambling territory if he was unlucky enough to have a Buddy Franklin taken behind him.

Decent player, but just a pair of shared Best & Fairests (in years North missed the eight), no All-Australians or influential finals campaigns to show for what was tipped to be a superstar career.

Funny to look back and see the sort of trades that were made back in the early 2000s. No way would a 30+ year old key forward coming off a year out of the game fetch pick 2 these days, even if his name were Wayne Carey. We traded pick 4 for Darryl Wakelin in 2000 and whilst Darryl was a very solid player there is no way you'd be giving up pick 4 for a player of that caliber today. Draft pick inflation, gotta love it.

Would we get pick 4 for Homsch or would we be kidding ourselves? Think possibly Wakelin was the same deal?

I would not even entertain the idea of trading Hombsch.

Yeah, the original trade was picks 4 & 18 but everyone got bumped up two slots in the wake of the Carlton salary cap breach.

Still, a staggering price for a guy who'd had to stand out of the game for a year, had a million miles on the clock and had nominated Adelaide as his preferred destination. While North would've loved nothing more than the schadenfreude of sending Carey into the draft, they surely would've accepted something better than nothing as they reached the end of their golden era.

Contrast to the Nick Stevens saga 12 months later. A gun 23 year old midfielder with his best footy in front of him (supposedly) who was allowed to walk for free lest he made a premiership rival stronger.

Talk about a paradigm shift.

He's 22? If you think he's good now, just wait a couple of years - he'll only get better from here.

So did you congratulate him?

All the nepotism and boys club cronyism... makes them weaker. So it's good news for us!
Reading between the lines, given Reid's background as a player agent, this is a move by the Crowporation to both counter the long history of their better players leaving (including Danger soon) to ensure no more players leave the filth as well as to determine how the Camry's should spend the large whole in the salary cap that Clanger will leave behind. The Camry's have 22 players uncontracted beyond next year, it's one nightmare of a task.

Yeah, really only a blue chip mid or KPF would command that sort of price these days. The perceived worth of KPD's and rucks has gone down massively.
Although I don't think it's all strictly draft inflation. Although missing out on a key gun you could have gotten or paying overs and not getting one really have the same effect on a list, the former is mostly a one off annoyance to fans, whilst the latter can linger round a club week in week out for years. Fear of supporter backlash has driven almost all clubs to only trading fringe players or when there's a gun against their heads, for fear of not clearly winning a trade. They'd rather miss out, then have a win-win trade, they want to sell a 'we won, they lost'.
