Red sash is special to them which is fair enough. They've worn it for something like 140 of their 143 years as a club.

They've worn a mostly black jumper that whole time too and they're changing that to red. Makes perfect sense to reverse it and it would look good too imo

This is the most logical solution which allows them to maintain a red sash on black.

As a clash guernsey, it functions perfectly.

Good result all round.

I don't mind it. It fits the brief and still looks like Essendon, plus it's far easier on the eyes than the grey one.

But calling it "heritage" is a joke.

I don't really like it tbh, the eye just sees two black lines rather than a red sash, but it gets the job done.

I'd love for them to go balls out with that lime green version though (sans Moorcroft).

Also if I never have to watch the game in which this guernsey is used.

I hope they wear that jumper in round 3: their fans will be seeing red when they look at their players AND when they look at the scoreboard.
