These are the 3 quotes you are responding to. The 4th post wasn't even about the game in question.

One person is happy they got their tip right.

Two are congratulating Port and say absolutely nothing which puts Essendon down at all. I am searching these posts in vain for anything which dances on Essendon's grave.

To read your post you would think Rooboy 96 had been at it again.

You are reading something into these posts that just isn't there.

Oh, I know footy Chris. I stated in another thread that Port were the better side (just) and deserved their win.

I was posting in reference to the non-Essendon people, whose satisfaction in life depends on us losing a couple of times a year.

But, if you want my OBJECTIVE view, it was a very good match, played with intensity, courage, skill, and commitment and could have gone either way. Port, deservedly got home in the end.

I mentioned all that (perhaps you shou'd read first). I especially stated I am eager for the retrun bout,. preferablty in week one of the finals, so we can get some revenge I also said Port deserved their win.

Nothing is wrong with what they wrote. They are rejoicing in an Essendon loss, and since the world revolves around Essendon, this is perfectly understandable.

Personally, i'm spewing that Port won. Essendon are going to finish on top regardless and Port are more of a threat to Hawthorn's top 4 position. I always enjoy seeing Essendon lose but not this time! So, i'm defying the trend!

I don't know what all the fuss is about either. I think it comes from the fact that we havn't lost many games of footy over the last three years, combined with the fact that I am the most frequent poster. These are two very combustable elements. When we lose, they instantly think to themselves :

"...Oh, I'll bet Dan will be pissed off. I'll bet he'll be all bitter and twisted..."

So, even when I admit Port were the better team (which they were....just ) and even though I express disappointment that Essendon lost (aren't I allowed to be disappointed?), the usual, tripe continues about how I must be a bad loser.

I don't care what anyone says, I am not going to feel anything other than disappointment for any loss we have, regardless of how well, or badly our opposition plays. I hope every other supporter feels the same way. Anyway, it was a good match, and for lovers of footy, that's the main thing.

I wasn't saying you were a bad loser, although you were pushing it a bit. But nothing like many of the people who post around here (and see my own thread re Carlton choking )

The point was that, as you seem to have recognised by apologising to Miss Magpie, you were reading posts congratulating Port as being somehow about Essendon, instead of about Port.

Anyway, there are lots worse sins on these boards than that.

But it's ingenuous to say you were expressing your disappointment. You were carrying on about other people's reaction to the game.
