Hudson and Welsh got through unscathed, Scott Thompson continued to rack up the touches. Bock was a good target up forward, slotted 3 important goals.

I think Rutten did well to keep Lloyd to 2, looked like he was going to kick 4 or 5 at one stage.

Thought Knights showed that he will be an improver this year.

Yep, I thought Douglas also did some nice things.

Griffatron did pretty well for a first gamer too.

Bock did show he can be very good up forward, however, it looks like he'll have to go to CHB. Scott Stevens shown up today and will continue to be the case when he plays on much stronger opponents.

I sort of felt a bit sorry for Perrie.

Even the commentators made mention of it on the fox telecast a few times that he was copping it badly from the crowd. I suppose those at the game can probably give a better indication.

Ummm ok the Great One had a good first half, Dougie was OK, Griffen was good and Bocky showed some heart. A few others played alright but not much else

Errm no. He still has that lack of self belief, he was loking around for a senior option

Needs to come out of his shell and do what he thinks is right

I actually think he did come out of his shell a bit today. Second quarter goal by Bock was created by Knights' confidence in attacking the goals. Last year he would've looked for a shorter option.

And learn how to ****ING kick under pressure.

For me, Thompson EASILY our best player. Great game. I thought Reilly was also sensational with some of his inside work. Top stuff.

Griffin was very good for a first gamer. I was VERY impressed with Van Berlo's first quarter but no where to be seen after half time. Knights got a lot of the ball but ****ed it up at crutial time and Douglas did a couple of good things but thats about it.

And for anyone who says Bode doesn't deserve to be in the side have a look at the ****ing ease that the ball came out of our forward 50. From my count, Essendon scored 4 goals by running it easily out of their defence where our forwards thought that applying pressure was not their thing

Hudson and Griffen's games were the highlight for mine.

Thommo and Reilly's games. Both worked hard all day.

And then there is......um.....yeah

He did that twice today (one a glaring one if front of the southern goad) before he racked up his only goal for the game in the last qty.

Not much. Long season coming up I'm afraid.

I am with this bandwagon. Unless something drastically changes in the next 2-3 rounds, this is certainly going to be a long season. I am, however, trying to be optimistic about it.

Wouldn't read too much into it. Last year we were beaten by carlton round 1. Now that was embarrasing.

I thought they manned up on him pretty well stiffy. Essendon were very wary of him after that first quarter but he didn't seem able to break free from their attention.

Agree with the rest of your comments.

I watched him closely today, he took on the opposition quite a few times, only very rarely made an error (no more than anyone else in the middle), I was so genuinely impressed :)

I noticed that too - he was almost tagged out of the game, which is interesting. The tagger has become the tagged.
Went from being our best player (imo) in the first half, to barely getting a touch in the second.

Thompson and Reilly both had good games, which is encouraging.
Bock was solid.
McLeod had a brilliant final term (but was far too quiet early on)
I'm very surprised that Hille was the dominant ruckman in terms of hitouts. I was taking notice in the first half and he looked to be well matched by Hudson and even Griffatron at times at the stoppages. Both ruckman started fairly well, but both did definately fade as the game went on.

Griffin - not out of place at all
Huddo - got through a game

oh and the final siren that was great too

can someone please explain to me what Welsh offers us that B Vince couldn't ?? he did sweet **** all today.

I also feel that people need reminding that Pez takes some time to get into it, his first few games are always stinkers.

In that case, maybe we should bring him about round 23. Let him get his stinkers out of his system in the SANFL.

You get the feeling Bernie's big chance is coming sooner rather than later. GO GO X-Factor!!!
