I'm pretty sure Walker mentioned the idea of a "charity match" very early on in one of his tweets to Kyrgios, as he dug himself deeper into his hole.

There was a tweet of his that sounded like it was written by a PR advisor once the Dangerfield Charity mention went pear shaped. I think this came after he posted is speccy. lol.

You could be correct. I didn't pay that much attention to Tahlah's tweets. The PAFC website did report that "Tennis SA CEO Steve Baldas put the idea forward" though.

I am as racist as they come but Kyrgios is a peanut, galoot and flog from wherever his ancestors come from.Even if he was 7th generation from Victor Harbor. He will however grow out of it in a couple of years.Tomic has improved now.No one has a problem with Kokinakas.
I never liked Lleyton Hewitt but no one had more passion representing his Country than him.

what a messy post. what are you saying he will grow out of?

Yep

But the peace was short-lived. After a long silence, Walker yesterday posted a video of himself taking a speccie with the message “here is for future reference buddy — just remember this next time you spit the dummy #galoot’ [Clangerfield then sends a tweet about the Leukaemia Foundation Walker shaving his head - see tweet in story]

Kyrgios was quick to reply on Thursday night: “the fact that you just posted a highlight of yourself makes me think you’re a bigger idiot than I thought’’.

That’s when Walker went for big-gun reinforcements in the shape of SA tennis legend Lleyton Hewitt.

“@lleytonhewitt how’s about me and you onto @NickKyrgios and @dangerfield32 and we will sort it out on court #charity #bitoffun #thoughts”.

The Tennis SA CEO - the badassed one and important reason why Port have the GDV, sets up a Port v Pillocks challenge match.

I'm disappointed in Kyrgios. No way should he have missed an opportunity to reference pornstache in his twitter exchange.

Personally I'd be quite happy for our captain to remain isolated from the texan pornstache's twitter antics

This would be the first and only time I would watch a tennis match in my life if it actually happens.

I particularly like the bit about he and Charlie Dixon swearing off alcohol.
This is a really good read. I admire our captain immensely, and as I pointed out several times last year, I suspected he was going through some type of depression.

How Port Adelaide captain Travis Boak learnt to love his job again

Great read. None of that was a surprise I guess, he looked like he was struggling at times last year, but I'm really glad he got sine support through the club.

This Evans chap sounds interesting.

Thanks for posting that. A bloody good read about our Captain.
Its interesting, is it not, that people do not know what problems face our Players.

Terrific article, thanks for sharing. It ranges over so much ground including the importance of on and off field mental health, supporting your teammates and coaches, and training intensity.

Well worth the read.

Echoes of yesterday for milestone man Travis Boak in AFL’s first round
HISTORY is repeating for Port Adelaide, with captain Travis Boak in line to play his 200th game alongside debutant and leader-in-waiting Sam Powell-Pepper in Sydney on Sunday.

That will echo events of Round 12, 2007. Then it was Boak debuting, as then captain Warren Tredrea celebrated his 200th game with a win over Essendon. Ten years on, Boak will lead the Power into battle in Round 1 against the Swans as skipper in his milestone match while 19-year-old Powell-Pepper is all but certain to step out for the first time. “It was incredible to put on the guernsey in my first game and it was Tredders’ 200th game that day, I will remember that forever,” Boak said.“And now I’m playing 200 in the No. 1 guernsey as well is really special and something I’ll look back on and tell the grandkids.......

It was pretty obvious even to the fans that Boak wasn't in a good place last year.
Yep agree with this.

For me personally when he and his misses split out of nowhere I didn't think much of it. However then you see that she wasn't just with another guy quickly but she was pregnant - and is now a mother - I thought that has surely got to hit Trav pretty hard. As far as we all know it was his longest relationship, and anyone whose been through a breakup a few times knows just how hard that first one is, especially if feelings are still there.

Hopefully we see him lift his output this year and build up his confidence again. It's got to be hard being regularly tagged, but we just need him to find a way to win 25 touches a game, and to stop panicking with it and we will be a whole different team.

Oh, poor fella. Makes sense now.

Travis seemed so happy in that press conference yesterday. Pretty sure I even heard one of the journos comment on it just after the presser finished. Hope he's in a better head space going into this season.

If you've done everything you can do, and control everything you can control...what's the point in worrying?

Positive vibes attract positive outcomes. No one wants to be around or play for someone who is a grump all the time.
