I think you have the ratings the wrong way around. I am not a bad winner. I never brag when Carlton win, I never stir a friend who may be a supporter of the team that Carlton has just beaten. I don't like it being done to me, so I don't do it. Although the favour never seems to be returned! I always cop it from so called friends when ever their team has beaten Carlton. As for the bad loser rating well, I rate about a 9 in that, I do not like to lose. In fact I don't know any Carlton supporters who like to lose. I think if you reverse the ratings you may be spot on. But that is just my opinion.

Esssendon supporters are no different to any other suporters.With the exception that when other clubs go through bad times there supporters dont slag on there players at the end of the game or dare i say it boo there team of at half time like essendon supporters have done.

Smokey maybe you should check the result of the state match played in 99 on the MCG. SA 12-11 d VFL 8-11, so much for being the better comp, we even beat you in your own back yard and that's after your state coach addmitted he didn't let his players play local games the week before, so he could rest them for the state game because he knew his team wasn't up to the SANFL standards.

Carb - I don't know if you are aware of this but in season 2000 the AFL's reserve competition was scratched and the Victorian based AFL clubs, alligned or went alone in the VFL, thus in the process making the VFL a hell of a lot stronger.

Do you still think you stand a chance against the Big V?

Bring them on baby!!!. First of all those reserve AFL players are reservs AFL players playing in the VFL, they belong to AFL clubs not VFL clubs, they wouldn't qualify as VFL players in a state game, the same way as our Crows and Power players don't qualify for the SA team, so we would still kick your ass in any state game, and as we don't have a team in the AFL under 18 comp our promising players come up through the SANFL unlike your VFL which is a resting place for old has been footballers. Most of the quality footballers who are not up to AFL standard come to the SANFL because thats where the money is, thanks to our 2 AFL clubs which have made these teams very rich.

Back in the glory days we were THE smugest lot you could find, theres been nothing like it, not even Carlton at their best could match us for late eighties snobbery. Im glad thats all gone, much better for a club to really FEEL for the side between its wins and losses.

Thats why know i reckon we get pretty dirty when we lose because now it really hurts instead of just 'oh well what a turn up, wonder who we will destroy for payback next week to pay for this insult'. The wins are also met with real pleasure as they too are now harder to come by and in effect sort of mean more somehow (cant really explain it, sorry).

Saying all that if i could hop back to 86 and do it all again id be there tomorrow

That seems to contradict some of the earlier posting's you made a few months ago were you stated that you were "proud" to be an arrogant Carlton supporter and that the Blues were the best at the "art" of being arrogant.

Don't worry about our supporters. We will pass the test. Having said that, we won't be in a position, as crap as Collingwood, because we are a strong club on and off the field.

I've mentioned many times, how we finished 14th in 1997, yet we LED THE LEAGUE in attendances.

In 1992, the AFL's crowd averge climbed dramticaly. One of the reasons was Essendon moving to the MCG. We had a poor year in 1992, yet we played in front of big crowds as per usual.

The example, I was talking about with Bee is relevant. We drew 33,000 against Port on a cold Friday night when we were OUT OF FINALS CONTENTION. We had a 6-10 or 6-11 record. I remember in 1994, when Collingwood kicked just 4 goals against Richmond on the Queens birthday.

The next week, you guys had to play the Eagles at the MCG. You still had a good win-loss record and you were very much in finals contention. The crowd for the match was a poor 27,000.(This was the match where Tranquilli kicked 6 goals)

It's very easy for a Pies supporters to say crap like : "Essendon only get crowds because they ar winning"

Trust me, we draw big crowds all the time. Like any club, the crowds are slighty bigger if you are winning, but we have proven we consistently draw big crowds no matter what.

Fortunatley we won't have to worry about being down the bottom. We've been at the top for 20 years. What makes you think we're going to fall? You're just hoping. It should be fun, watching the Pies get their 3rd woden spoon in 2001, while we cruise to a 17th pemiership.

Don't get jealous now.

RATINGS AS FOLLOWS:

ADELAIDE: Bad Winner rating – 8; Bad Loser rating – 4
Still very smug in victory but since the defection of the lower life SA ferals to Port Adelaide have become reasonably civilised. No longer scratch cars with Victorian number plates.


CARLTON: Bad Winner rating – 10; Bad Loser rating –4
No one shitstirrs like a winning Carlton supporter. Could cause Mother Teresa to attempt a king hit. Italian factor means they are absolute frontrunners so are quiet when losing. Often leave early if they’re getting flogged.

COLLINGWOOD: Bad Winner rating – 8; Bad Loser rating – 9
No longer as horrible as they once were. Still the all round mongrels of the competition but appear to be learning at least some respect and behaviour has improved. May now be less hated than Carlton supporters.



HAWTHORN: Bad Winner rating – 8; Bad Loser rating –6
Fast approaching the "big boys" with regard to being pricks. Feral behaviour from ‘rebel’ cheer squad is absolutely disgusting.


MELBOURNE: Bad Winners rating –3; Bad Loser rating – 3
Like Geelong supporters only a tad more pompous. Range Rovers leave early if the going gets tough.

PORT ADELAIDE: Bad Winners rating –9; Bad Loser rating –8
All the genuinely scummy Crows fans of the early 90s went to Port (Pot??). Combine the worst aspects of Crows, Collingwood, Carlton, Richmond and Bulldogs fans and you have the average Port supporter. Numbers thankfully low.


Dear Tiger Tank.... Thanks for your perceptions....However...Port Adelaide Have a core supporter base of approximatelly 25,000 - to 35,000 supporters in Adelaide..the club has always had this amount of supporters.... in the SANFL.

It is interesting to see you make reference to the Crows when discussing Port, but The Crows have never had relevance to Port ,or our Supporters or defection of our supporters from the Crows...

The Crows are in existance because of Port Adelaide...

Our supporters are recognised as being distributed from the highest forms of human intelligence, the most Knowledgable, fair minded, interested , sympathetic, understanding, compassionate supporters around....to the well Neanderthal...nope that is unfair... ...........Cro-magnon is better....

The Port Adelaide Football Club has nothing to do with the Crows except being directly responsible for their Existance...our supporters are Port from birth...


There are many in Victoria who knew football prior to AFL...that knew Port and their affect on Australian football for over 130 years prior to joining the new AFL league....


Those also know that when we hit our straps..as we will..as is our clubs tradition, in the next few years..a new understanding.. from the majority of Victorians on Human evolution will be learned....

Carb, I see you neglected to use the statistics of all Victorian teams. Hell, you have not even won a single game against us since you entered the competition. Not winning a game against St Kilda, that is slightly embarrassing.

Puts you in the illustrious company of being the only team to have a losing record with St Kilda (apart from the bulldogs and kangaroos which are very close and I'm not sure who is leading at this point).

I would have suggested you had our figures too low but you nailed it with your explanation. Our supporters are usually too busy turning on the players, coaches and each other to worry about opposing supporters. I got to witness some impressive arguments between our fans this year. Tim Watson was greeted with a rousing reception of boos during a match at the MCG this year.

With our record over the years, many people may be surprised at how hard St Kilda supporters take our loses. Especially in the current era of football when every club is on an even keel and the chequebook doesn't reign surpreme. (Welcome Aaron)

The difference between Williamstown and Werribee is immense! It's like comparing Caulfield to Dandenong because they're in the same direction from the city.

Still, I am surprised at Collingwood's alignment with Willi, as Willi has had strong Bulldogs connections for a long time, not just geographically but with players, coaches and supporters, more so than they did with Werribee.

I was simply making the point that Werribbe and Williamstown are in close proximity. Last year the Western Bulldogs were aligned with Werribee Tigers and the Willi SEagulls. I do agree with you Darky that the suburbs of Werribee and Williamstwon are dissimilar, much like Port Melbourne and Frankston. Although it would be fairly hypocritical of any Collingwood supporter to be critical of the Western Suburbs of Melbourne when Buckley might play is days out with the Williamstown Seagulls.
