Apart from the obvious days off principle (and day game in Ballarata), would think the AFL would prioritise:
-MCG games at night
-games with finals implications in all timeslots throughout the weekend
-not doubling up interstate clubs from same city

Hence:

Friday
Collingwood v Essendon (both play Sat in r22, finals/top 4 implications)

Saturday
Geelong v Carlton (both play Sat day in r22, potential top 2 implications) - day
North v Melbourne (dead rubber) - day
Port v Freo (both play the Sat night in r22, potential finals implications) - middle game
Richmond v BL (match of the round) - night
Sydney v St Kilda (dead rubber) - night

Sunday
GWS v GC (both play the Sunday in r22, potential top 4/8 implications) - early
WB v Adelaide (WB play Sunday in r22, potential finals implications)
WC v Hawthorn (both play the Sunday in r22, potential top 2/4 implications) - twilight

Eh why not I'll give it a crack

Friday
Collingwood vs Essendon @ MCG (Free to air 7)

Saturday
North Melbourne vs Melbourne @ Blundstone
Sydney vs St Kilda @ SCG
Geelong vs Carlton @ GMHBA
West Coast vs Hawthorn @ Optus (Free to air 7)
Port Adelaide vs Fremantle @ Adelaide

Sunday
Doggies vs Adelaide @ Mars
Richmond vs Brisbane @ MCG (Free to air 7)
Giants vs Gold Coast @ GIANTS

I think they’d want Richmond vs Brisbane on Sunday to keep interest until the end like they did the last two years with Adelaide/WCE in 2017 and Melbourne/GWS last year.

I’m thinking:

Friday
Collingwood vs Essendon MCG

Saturday

1:45pm Sydney vs St Kilda SCG
2:10pm Bulldogs vs Adelaide MARS
4:35pm Port Adelaide vs Fremantle AO
7:20pm Geelong vs Carlton GMHBA
8:10pm West Coast vs Hawthorn (7) Optus Stadium

Sunday
1:10pm North Melbourne vs Melbourne BA
3:20pm Richmond vs Brisbane MCG
4:40pm Gold Coast vs GWS Metricon

Am I in the minority on BigFooty in thinking we no longer need a floating Round 23 schedule if we have a pre-finals bye?
It was quite nice in 2017 having the last two games of the round dictate who would make finals. Would have thought the broadcasters are keen on it.

Going by what I've seen and after some deeper thinking, I'll have another crack:

Friday, August 23
Collingwood vs Essendon, 7:50pm, MCG, Seven

Saturday, August 24
Western Bulldogs vs Adelaide Crows, 1:45pm, MARS, Fox Footy

Geelong Cats vs Carlton, 2:10pm, GMHBA, Fox Sports 3

Gold Coast SUNS vs GWS GIANTS, 4:35pm, Metricon, Fox Footy

Sydney Swans vs St Kilda, 7:25pm, SCG, Fox Footy

West Coast vs Hawthorn, 8:10pm, Optus, Seven

Port Adelaide vs Fremantle, AO, 4:40pm, Fox Footy

*all times AEST

Cracking games.

Pies vs Dons
Dogs vs Crows
Tigers vs Lions
Eagles vs Hawks
Port vs Freo ( could be a cracker if finals are on the line )

Beauty!

Pies vs Dons on the Friday Night my God.

Collingwood & Essendon will probably be 6v7 anyway, and playing for home advantage is meaningless between them, so I'd like to see a different Friday night fixture with more stake on the line.

Richmond vs Brisbane will likely have more at stake. Higher finishing as well.

Richmond won't play Friday Night because they play Sunday the week prior.

Cheers. Smacks self on head for not perusing the Round 22 fixture.

I guess that means Port-Freo is the only other credible option (Blundstone FNF lol), but unless those two sides kick up a gear in the finals race I guess we're stuck with meaningless FNF.

Hurry up and announce it you campaigners.

I see many people putting Port vs Fremantle on Sunday twilight. I believe it will be either Saturday twilight or Saturday night.

Most obvious fixtures right now seem to be Collingwood vs Essendon Friday night and Richmond vs Brisbane mid afternoon Sunday.
