Dawson is one of those players. You either hate him or love him (maybe love is a strong word, appreciate)
He should kick more because he handballs us into trouble too much. We would be stuffed without him and Macca against most sides though. I thought he had a bad game against Sydney until I saw the replay and he was pretty good really. We wouldn't have been better without him.Dawson temporarily dozes off all the time at least 5 times a game and when he does have the ball more often than not it goes straight to the opposition

Please give us the facts and figures of the games and when this dozing of , turning the ball over directly to opponents occurred. Outlandish statements like yours need to be backed up with the stats. If you can't please stop making crap up.![]()
I'm in the 'like him' camp. We wouldn't have much of a defence without him there. He helps Ibbo/MJ hugely without having to worry about his possession. His 1 percenters are massive, he does the off the ball stuff superbly, really does help his teammates around him. Who cares if he doesn't have the skill or over handballs. So does alot of the top defenders anyway, Alex Rance isn't great at rebounding either as well as Talia (you ever hear of him having the disposal skillset? He shuts down the top forwards anyway). I'd back Zac to play on Kennedy then I do McPharlin or MJ. He shuts him down a fair bit, and that job ain't easy.Dawson is one of those players. Once we have McPharlin/Dawson/MJ/Ibbo back for the Prelim.. Will be the best defence we've had for quite a while.
As a general rule they are instructed to stay behind the forward but it depends where the ball is.All of our defenders sit off their man.
He didn't exactly excel on playing Petrie, Waite- he is required to do it both ways same as Chaplin. Not sure about that one...
Rance is pretty slippery coming out of defence I would have thought. He is agile and pretty fast for a fairly big bloke. Shame he signed with that rabble RichmondHe didn't exactly excel on playing Petrie, Waite- he is required to do it both ways same as Chaplin.

I completely agree and don't understand why the hell people think he is a decent player. Seriously bad under pressure and just holds onto a player when it's bombed in 1 v 1 giving away free kicks. When the ball comes in fast he just jogs behind the opposition player who just takes the mark. You know he's bad when everyone knows he doesn't like to kick the ball, wtf is that it's football
Sydney aside, he very rarely gets bags kicked on him... People only want to focus on the negative.... More often than not, he wins his position.

So I hope Ross saw that, and doesn't sub him early in the 3rd if he starts quietly. If he picks him!Pretty sure he got 3 in the third and 2 in the fourth, most of them were made from contested marks inside 50 from what I remember, he kicked very straight as well. Good signs.
Edit; what makes this even more impressive is that Peel only had 9 goals for the game with the forward line having limited opportunities.
Actually Rance is the same height as Mundy.. Weird given Mundy doesn't look that tall. But definitely agree, poor RichmondRance is pretty slippery coming out of defence I would have thought. He is agile and pretty fast for a fairly big bloke. Shame he signed with that rabble Richmond![]()
Macca must come in for Dawson. Griff has to replace Clarke.
Tabs or AP in for Mzungu (should be Suban based on his performance today)
Langdon in for Clancee
Don't know why Langdon should be in. Does Ross Lyon have the balls to do it? As for you Spoken4, Wise Idea playing 3 rookies in a Prelim? I can understand Alex Pearce. Give the choice of giving a 1st year guy a game in the Prelim... Weller in.Do we think Sutcliffe will miss? Seemed to hurt his shoulder again.
I'd like to see
In: Taberner, Griffin, McPharlin (if McPharlin misses then Alex Pearce), Grey and LangdonOut: Suban, Clarke, C Pearce, Sutcliffe and Mzungu
We won't have the same Forward line in the 2013 grand final If Taberner plays. Griffin is a better 2nd ruck and tall forward than Clarke. If we pick the same forwardline from the 2013 GF again I'll be upset. Clarke is useless as a second tall forward and as a backup ruck.

One of Tippett's goals was when he was on Clarke. So technically, he scored 2 on Dawson.
