VAFA advised no boundaries today due to injury.Good to see Max "checking the Gunn" Leader today , think he'll need the long stops tomorrow

I saw that , all Premier grades should have boundaries , we might have a spareQuite day and me and Bedders shot the breeze

How about you do one side and I’ll do the other.![]()
Incredible.Old Camberwell do it again
Ophidian Old Boys
One game was abandonedIncredible.
In 7 of their 9 games where they have turned it on in the last (one was an early loss to PEGS)..it’s been 40 goals vs 2.
In the other two games they haven’t needed to turn it on and have won anyway.
I can’t imagine there has even been anything like it.
Honest Review Round 10 OI v Ormond
Windy as hell favouring the southern end. Almost exactly the same as last week.
Ground conditions. Considering the rain, the middle was a sloppy 5. Still not bad enough for the ruckman to have a shower after the game. The rest of the ground, near perfect.
Q1.
Ormond won the toss and kicked with the wind, and if Ormond were to win the game, it would have had to kick more than 4 goals in the opening stanza. Due to the terrible conditions and a very short quarter (27 minutes), OI we’re able to restrict Ormond to 2 goals. OI had a couple of half chances, but were well smothered by Ormond defence.
Q2.
Then came the wind and the Bloody rain. It turned so dark that Ormond turned the lights on. Fortunately OI had kicked 2 reasonably quickly, and the the rest of the quarter was just a slog. This quarter went for 37 minutes due to ball going along way over the fence, near the rotunda. OI were able to skunge a couple more goals whilst Ormond were struggling to get the ball past half way.
Q3.
The Premeirship quarter. Melbourne’s weather is amazing. Gone was the clouds and gone were Ormond lights. But the temperature continued to drop.
If Ormond was to win, they needed to hold OI goalless and kick 4-6 themselves. But a good crumbing goal by the FF and a goal by the CHB after a silly 50 metre penalty to OI and only 2 goals to Ormond saw the lead increase. But OI had lost 2 players to injury anything could happen in the last.
Q4.
2 goals 11, to 2 points saw OI run out comfortable winners.
Goals to one of our 1st gamers was the highlight of the last quarter.
Another 1st gamer, 17yo ”Chopsticks” was cramping badly and upon coming from the ground, he said he only plays 20 minute quarters, and when one quarter goes for almost double that, no wonder he was struggling.
It was amazing to see the injured leaders of Ormond working the canteen during the maggo’s.
Great to run with an umpire in the 2’s who run hard, new the rules and didn’t put up with any whinging BS for either team.
As President Ritchie “ great job by the volunteers today“, especially the young boundary’s from Ormond and the boundary and water boys from OI, all of which looks like drowned rats by the end of the game.
In summary, very happy for the win, Ormond are a very proud club, who if given a bit of luck, will sneak one or two wins for the rest of the year and will stay up.
Some scribes might not agree with a lot of what Bedders says, but as a clubman there is not finer.
Old Camberwell appear to have stitched up a top 2 position with their win over PEGS. OI goes 2 games clear of PEGS, but with the Mentone bye this week, that game will close. With Hampton winning, it looks like the battle for relegation is down to two.
Thank the almighty for a week off, followed by Hampton, then another week off, the OI bodies will get a chance for a good break.
Thanks Max a very fair assessment of the game , we only had 1 player who had played 50 games , so shows how bad it is , but in the long run might be a bonus.Honest Review Round 10 OI v Ormond

This time they were kicking with a 6-7 goal wind.
