Premier A - 2015

Hey brother - try something new in the new year - admitting you were wrong. It's healthy and people will like you more. It was just a bad call, that's all.
Always ready to do so Les. When it's the case. Only someone unfamiliar with the two teams in question would suggest there was a 15 goal difference on last years form. Or someone with no footy acumen. Or both.

ye
Carey 1-17 in A in 2013 and have lost AFL players Roach and Laidlaw.
Can't see them finishing above 9th myself.
Dont think Roach played 2013, and i think were 6 or so players better in B Grade than they were in A in 2013, Rice played a full season and Bongetti is strong , to name a couple. It also sounds like a few VFL players are headed their way. Time will tell

Tend to agree re Carey. Had absolutely no depth in 2013 and reckon they will be around mid table in 2015. Despite loss of Roach I hear they are have recruited reasonably well.

Fraught with danger making predictions in December but no harm in having a crack. First time in recent memory I have not predicted Xavs for a GF spot at least

St Bernards
Collegians
Uni Blacks
De La /Uni Blues

Sliders - Beaumaris and maybe Scotch.

Woodrow - Young (UBlues) or Bentick (StB)

Could this lead to a move to Optus Oval for the VAFA, many things would have to fall into place. But maybe a chance to get away from that dung heap.
Somehow doubt Optus will be a goer. Apart from Carlton I think the umpires and Storm use it as a training base.

It may not be all bad news if one of the AFL clubs move to Sportscover and with government and AFL assistance turn it into a state of the art sports precinct with the VAFA as part of it.

If that doesn't pan out, wouldn't mind looking at the practicality of some sort of partnership involving Linton Street. A splendid ground well located grossly underused.

Optus is a dump, it stinks like a sewer and is too big for community football. Rather stay at the wind tunnel and have it upgraded.

Agree with this. Optus far too big. Didn't know it smelt, but don't want to find out either.
An upgraded EP would be great. Perhaps they can put up some massive wind breaks.

Love it OTP, I'd be happy with a big circus tent surrounding and covering the oval, the VAFA can't afford any of their overpaid execs to take a pay cut for anything sexy.

Reckon the exorbitant affiliation fees would ensure there is quite a surplus even when taking into account the salaries and handsome match payments pazza and his crew get.;)

You'll note OTP hasn't found it necessary to wave the calicos since exiting the VAFA due to the sizeable remuneration on offer during his time.:)

Julian Rowe back to Old Carey?

They may have lost Roach, but getting back Crozier from Bentleigh, Rimington from O/S and potentially Rowe from Port Melbourne helps their chances greatly.

Old Carey will struggle with a lack of depth. Those inclusions would be helpful but they were a distant 2nd in B grade whose 2s struggled....their bottom 6 to 8 players is where they will be exposed.

Yeah, when I say help their chances, I mean help their chances of not being sent straight back down. I certainly don't consider them to be a finals threat.

I'm pretty sure Rowe is staying at Port??

Not according to the Port Melbourne website. Rowe was a stand out in the VAFA before going to Port and it would be huge for Carey if he were to play for them.

While there are some legit questions about their depth they have some super players at the top end. If they can keep them on the park I think they can go ok next season.
