How can it be the right call when it clearly favoured one side and resulted in a free possession which I think resulted in a goal.Umpire made the right call, just stupid footballers who don't know the rules.

This probably should be in the umpiring thread. The views of pazza would be informative too.Re: Umpiring. I have seen B, C, D1 and D2 games this year. The best umpiring I saw was in D2 - worst was C.
I remember speaking to a former A/B Grade umpire a couple of years back and I asked him why he was not umpiring the higher grades - his answer was that he didn't train twice a week anymore. Does this mean that some better umpires are umpiring lower grades due to not being able to train twice a week?
Would explain things if true.
Fair comment. This probably should be in the umpiring thread. The views of pazza would be informative too.
Think Goodman made the decision a few years back to ease the aging group out of the senior section to make way for the up-n-comers. Macca became a development coach as well as running around with the youngsters in the lower grades showing them the on-field craft. Chuck and Gibbo have similar mentoring roles I think.
Throw in retirements and some going to the TAC/VFL and the VAFA not finding sufficient experienced replacements and we have the present position whereby the standard isn’t as good as in past years. That applies not only to field umpiring in my view either.
Also, there seem to be two young inexperienced umpires paired more often than in the past.
Not an easy gig it must be said.

What a game at Camberwell Sports Ground, a favourite venue from back in the Cobras days, a hard fought affair with moments where each team let their guard down and let the oppo shine through! Well done Ashes for holding on!
Monash have a pretty average percentage and, while adjusting to the step up in class to Premier B, seem unable to put teams away. But my-oh-my can we stick out an arm wrestle - some hard heads on campus this year.Certainly Ashers are doing well against the top sides this year.
Make finals and perhaps A Grade beckons. Imagine Blues, Blacks and Blues all in A. A scholars delight.
A little short of that at the moment but a great win by Monash just the same. Plenty to like in the turquoise and silver. Best win in 25 years.Certainly Ashers are doing well against the top sides this year.

The Ashes should have won by 5 goals. Missed a sitter to go 27 points up with 10 minutes to go then took the foot off the gas. Scotch were OK but their precision passing game is hard to maintain for 4 quarters. Still plenty of improvement possible for Monash, you can see almost every player has their best footy ahead of them (maybe not Hickey).OS will be mighty pissed off.........Had this one down for a win...

Nah we need one more win to avoid relegation. That posts feels a little more confident than your last. I'm starting to feel that you may be ready to at least loosen the lid...
FWIW you would be the unluckiest team in VAFA history if you were relegated. Big games on that front this week with Hampton v OH and Brighton v Parky.Nah we need one more win to avoid relegation.

Saw one of the best games of the year, Hampton Rovers v Old Haileybury at Boss James Reserve yesterday.
The lead changed hands several times in the final quarter before a goal by the Rovers scored with 19 seconds left in the game sealed the victory, winning by 4 points.

Mathematically possible but not gunna happen.Good to hear the Rovers were able to sing the song for the third time this year in the battle for the wooden spoon!
Almost guaranteeing relegation for OH.
Is it possible that Scotch could miss out on finals completely?

You manage to watch a lot of footy Canada, when did you last watch OS play?Unlikely but won't be going up.
Play bruise free footy. Not good when grounds get heavy or finals. Was ok earlier in the year on the dry tracks.

I do get around. Not afraid of watching 2 games in an arvo.
Live close enough to the home of finger biscuits to see them a few times a year. I called this months ago after seeing them play. You can search back if it really interests you. They are soft in the contest. Beauy and Bedes will smash em up.
Just an observation.
I reckon if the bar stays open till the last break he will be there with bells onWe could do with an expert of your standing at an OGGS game. Can we get you down to Como?
