Have to agree with all of the above. Learned a valuable lesson on why one should have private health insurance after copping the full whack for a knee reconstruction 10 years ago when all the paperwork became too much.
Had ankle surgery earlier this year which was around the same cost in dollars and ended up out of pocket about $400. Sufficed to say PH insurance is money well spent.

Good to see you get on the Rovers bandwogan, Mobb.

Mazenod vs. Hampton Rovers
Parkdale vs. PEGS
Marcellin vs. Monash Blues
Rupertswood vs. Banyule
Fitzroy vs. Old Camberwell

This weather might have an influence on a couple of matches.

Mazenod vs Hampton Rovers.
Parkdale vs PEGGS.
Marcellin vs Monash Blues.
Rupertswood vs Banyule.
Fitzroy vs Old Camberwell.

With 8 minutes left and the Roys down to a bench of 2, it would have been a brave man to back the home side to bang through 4 goals in the mud to snatch the game by the narrowest of margins.

Yet that they did. The Roys deserved the win having butchered plenty of shots earlier in the day, but it'd be fair to say there's a pit in the visitors' stomachs for letting such a solid lead slip away.

The perennial doubt about whether Old Camberwell are 'full of front and less of grunt' is now posed. Not much use being top of the tree if the softness of superlative facilities see you succumb to 'front runners'. So many have, so many will.

Maybe Fitzroy are a good team?

Interesting set of results from the weekend leaves The Eagles on top of the tree. We controlled the game against Monash but kept letting them back in for a 5 or so minutes every quarter. Never lost control of the game but should have really put it beyond doubt much earlier. Not to take anything away from Monash, they have some really good on-ballers and half-backs that are willing to run through the middle and try and break the lines. Just too bad they can't do it consistently for 4 quarters. Also, their full-back who played on the younger Bortolotto did a great job of shutting him down after quarter time when JB had slammed home 3. A good win though in slippery conditions is really building some momentum for the Eagles.
Really looking forward to the next couple of weeks down at The Nest:

Rupo this weekend at home to hopefully record another home game victory.

Old Camberwell the week after at OC which will be a real big test for both teams.

Then the game of the year (for us anyway) when we play, for the first time ever, long time spiritual rivals Banyule back at The Nest. The feeling around this game cannot be underestimated.

Nest, we have actually played against marcellin 6 times but not since 1994

Good call. But let's be honest. 18 years is a lifetime in football and outside the living memory of the current generation of players.
Regardless, will be an epic clash.

Thanks for the summary Nester. I missed the game but have 2 questions for you:
How did the young monash ruckman go in your view?
Why a rivalry with Banyule?

1. Not too bad, did well to move around the ground and took some good grabs. Gave Monash first use in many stoppages. Reflected in stoppage clearances around the ground but oddly didn't translate to centre clearances.

2. Many Old Marcellin boys played juniors there and just as many play there rather than at The Nest now. There is a current generation of players all within a few years of each other at school who play at both clubs. So many friendships will be tested come round 9!

Thanks for that - see you over at the Frearson later in the year.

Wasnt able to get there Saturday due to work but was wondering who Millsom was and what position he played, and also what the feeling was like around the place after sitting on top of the ladder....Was M.Bortolotto injyred as he didnt get amongst the goals or best...

Millsom is a super U19s player that we picked up this year. He's made the transition to senior footy pretty well. Will take some time to develop but looks to be a really good addition to The Nest. Matty B was injured. Strained calf muscle I think. Nothing serious, just precautionary.
The feeling around the club is super positive at the moment. It's always been a great club off the field but it's nice to be able to put it together with some on-field success too. Lots of blokes at training both nights and plenty of numbers for the reserves and thirds. The coaching stuff headed by ex-Footscray player Steve 'Super' Macpherson have done a great job in conjunction with the committee to try and make the club as professional as possible.

Another piece to the rivalry. Patty played his junior footy at Banyule and played in our under 19s last year. Good kid!!!

Wondering what's happened to Banyule. have they lost some players from last year. I have seen the top four ( Marcellin, Old Camberwell, Fitzroy and Parkdale Vultures) play this year. And the team that Banyule had on the paddock last year could easily match it with these clubs.

Pulse, has been a tough preseason with the loss of many players, however, we have filled those spots with youngsters who are doing a great job.

On the weekend we had 12 of last years grand final side not play. Only 1 has gone to another club ( Williams), the rest have either gone overseas, are injured or have retired.

Of those 12 who didn't play only 3 are going to play this year. Our young guys are coming along nicely, however, it would be nice to have some of those players available in c grade!!!

How bad are we going? If the season wasn't already enough of a horror show, we've lost one of our young fellas (1 of 9 to have played every game so far) to the tribunal for supplying "insufficient evidence" as a witness. What a f*&king joke?!

Amazing how it never rains -it pours.

How is morale Mick?

Can you see the club winning a game?

Is this as low as you can remember in recent history?

There have been some big margins in both seniors and ressies this year.
