possibly....

Because the McCllelland trophy is a legit and real prize. You say premiership cabinet.

I say Trophy cabinet to be precise. Again... McClelland trophy is a legit trophy.

As stated on post #174 on this thread...

The main McClelland board stayed with us until 2016, that is now belong to the swans. it gets rotated every year.

We also get a wooden plaque or wooden trophy to keep to prove that we won it in 2015. Do you understand?

Some freo fans disagree with it but I dont give a stuff. We won a trophy in 2015. It wasnt the premiership but better than nothing.

Dude they are talking about the premiership cup display at the MCG for grand final week. Each club has their own Premiership cabinet displaying the ones they have one. You have totally missed the point.

Surely Fitzroy's cups are in whatever garage the club is being run out of?

The Bears rebranded as the Lions, still two separate clubs I thought...

Well done. You've got it right.

Fitzroy didn't pay for the cups. Back in the 20th century Fitzroy received flags.

Fitzroy is back at the Brunswick Street Oval. Bit hard to play football every weekend in a garage.

Well the cups claiming to belong to Brisbane Lions are there under Fitzroys name. I know the cups were made in retrospect, but it's a bit weird for Brisbane to appropriate the success from those years as their own.

They're Fitzroy's premierships, irrespective of who owns the cups.

Fitzroy and Brisbane are separate clubs, but the cups were largely paid for by the Fitzroy-Brisbane Bears Past Players Association. The cups have Fitzroy's name on them, but are effectively owned by the Brisbane Lions. I guess they can do with them what they like. It's in the Brisbane Lions interests to identify with Fitzroy.

However whatever the Lions and AFL display, the Fitzroy Football Club now playing in the VAFA still has nine premierships (1 VFA, 8 VFL-AFL). Hopefully the 10th club premiership isn't too far away.

are those cups in the premiership cup display seriously the real deal... not just replicas?

Yes. Well the ones prior to 1959 were made in retrospect, but they are all the real deal.

Though there's only one 1970 cup on display. Pretty sure the club has two, as the original was stolen, replaced, then returned.

Just 4 more to filled up our cabinet.

lol...the outraged bloke from the car park lives!!

Had a look yesterday and it didn't stand out at all. I assume it's faded significantly in 20 years as a lot of them have.

Oh really? I've never seem any outside of the photos; I didn't expect them to fade significantly, but I guess they would be Handel led quite a bit for various reasons.

Any that are more than 15 years old look pretty aged, particularly the gold interior and wreaths. So I imagine that one has faded significantly. I didn't specifically peruse the North ones but it didn't stand out in the cabinet as a whole.

Real deal for the cups. The ones from the 60s-70s look pretty battered. Seems at some stage they made the cups larger as well as the Cats '63 cup is smaller than the rest.

Do you even know what we're talking about?
There is a display at the G with cabinets full of premiership cups. Not trophy cabinets, just for premiership cups.

Personally I think you should be proud of your first place on the ladder. But it's not what I'm talking about.

yes i do.

It don't seem so.

You had a rant about some trophy that isn't relevant to what is being discussed.

Hopefully you see no one was trolling freo.
Um... in the 1st couple of pages, people were asking about our premiership cabinet. Flat out trolls.

Has anyone confirmed if the clubs that are cup less have an empty display at the G, or no display at all?
No display at all for Fremantle, GWS or Gold Coast

Yes, right now at the MCG 15 clubs have their premiership cups on display in cabinets the AFL made while Fremantle have their own separate one setup with a plaque commemorating their McClelland.

You've clearly been following the conversation.
