While we're at it, what the hell do single mothers do for the community, or disabled people? Give em nothing and if they can't make it well tough ****.
And your attitude is one of a sooky la la who can't win off his own bat so he wants the bowlers to bowl underarm to him. No way will i ever enjoy getting a handout in any situation in life, footy or otherwise.

I knew we'd agree on something eventually.

BTW, have you ever thought your thinking on footy in general would be totally different had fate made you a Saint or a Dog?

Funny, I was talking about those who need it, you were just thinking of yourself.

Carlton personified.

Fact, yes that is the perception, I flagged that though by saying the majority believed it, or did you miss that part?
I think your clubs ability to force change was seriously aided by the draft 'handouts'.

2002 - Membership 17,500, 2003 - membership 23,500, 2004 - membership 30,000, what have the Saints done on the field to get this response?????? Good admin and selling the vision of the future is why the Saints are on the up.

I also view your stance in the last paragraph with some bemusment, given that it's the same sort of me me me attitude that you absolutely slate clubs like carlton for apparently having.

Be as bemused as you like, i can't help it if you look to some past that no longer exists. Live in reality, and the reality is that Carlton has to compete in he same environment as all the other 15 clubs.

My view on the draft has absolutely nothing to do with who it benefits more, it has to do with what i believe is right. If Carlton win 20 spoons straight because we can't compete with corporate giants from perth and adelaide then you know what i will think?

If that happened it wouldbe your clubs incompetence not the work of the AFL.

Work harder, there has got to be a way we can work smarter to beat or at least compete with these mobs.

What you mean by increasing membership, merchandise, getting the highest average crowd in the league, increased sponsorships etc etc etc. Seems as though the Saitns have done that.

I hate handouts

Giving Walker back? Giving Stevens back? Want Goddard, and Wells?

I want us to walk on our own 2 feet. Your attitude is typical stkilda, mine is typical carlton.

What an arrogant thing to say. Typical Carlton pfft, what is that? To cheat the SC and then complain when you get caught cheating?

Typical St.Kilda, what a stupid thing to say. The thinking of Saints fans is the reason why the Saints are now flying. We have looked to the future, the club has introduced innovations (initiated club camps at regional towns, rotating, capataincy, took the whole list to London instead of an end of season ***** up, taking the whole list to Perth on the w/e, introducing corporate values etc etc etc)

It's only the system that got you where your club sits today. Congratulations you're proof the evening up process works.

It is only the system that allowed Carlton any success previously.

Just because your club can't come to grips with the AFL and want to live in the 70's and 80's is nobodys fault but your own.

Love with it or leave our game to real fans, not ones who think they have a birthright to be successful and wont allow anyone else to compete.

I think he'd be now following Manchester United in the premier league. Sorry, should that be Arsenal now Deej?

Nope, I came from absolutely nothing and I'm going to be a millionaire and i've never got a single handout along the way and i haven't changed a bit still a down to earth person who loves a beer and i'm no better or worse than anyone else apart from those who want handouts to further themselves. I would always have this attitude mate it got nought to do with carlton.

Deej, do you minimise your tax?

If you do, you take a handout by using the publics roads, hospitals, defence systems ect.

Rugged individualism survival of the fittest type of attitude is really not appropriate for a sporting competition, or life in general.

Or do you believe in getting your way through superior firepower?

So you take no tax breaks for your business?

If you do, you are a hypocrite.

At the very least North did in 1975.

Yes we got 3 good players under the 10 year rule; Doug Wade, John Rantall and Barry Davis. All of whom where right at the end of their respective careers, ala Carey. Also all 3 where no longer at the club when we won it again in 1977. What we did have was some excellent players at the club; David Dench, Keith Greig(won 2 Brownlows), Schima(300 gamer), Barry Cable, Blight, Sam Keckovich, John Burns, Arnold Briedis, Brent Crosswell, Phil Baker, Peter Keenan, Xavier Tanner etc. The list goe's on.

This is rubbish, Carlton have most definitely embraced the draft system and are in a rebuilding phase led by Pagan. My views are at odds with the club's views i'm sure.

You don't know me and never will and if you said that to my face you'd be sitting on your arse in about 2 seconds flat.

Why is it so hard to understand what i'm saying? I just want equal opportunity. Everyone has the opportunity to buy a mercedes even a single barefoot mother with 7 kids on welfare. Maybe they'll never get one cause they will never be able to afford one, but they still have the CHANCE to get one nonetheless.

Yes, I am happy to provide some support to those in need. But not to the extent that it unfairly places them in a better position than others.

To use your analogy, how do you think the middle income earners (Hawthorn, Geelong, Richmond, North) feel - they can't get ahead because they don't get the perks of the well to do (such as Bris with their salary cap, Coll with their prime exposure) and they get left behind by the welfare recipients (who work the system such as Melb and StK).

At the start, I said I'm all for evening up the comp, but the current priority system goes too far.

I would try writing that again if I were you.

Someone asks me if i would be the same if i followed a crappy club, it is directly questioning the integrity of my convictions.

By the way, what makes you think i'd give a rats what people on BF think of me? Gloating to strangers ha, who does that? Certainly not me. A statement of fact is not necessarily gloating.

Deej, I'm sure I could find countless posts where you're going on about your 'achievements'.

Hey good luck to you, but don’t get precious when people take the mickey for doing it. Your mum should have told you that self praise is no praise at all.

BTW, I don’t think Fred thinks StKilda is a crappy club.

and that's got what exactly to do with the size of your wallet? or is it perhaps more to do with the size of your ego...

To use your analogy, if you asked people about paying tax, a large majority would say they are happy to do so, as long as everyone is treated the same, with some concessions for the more needy. I will happily support someone in need of help.

However, most people will object to having to pay more than someone who 'unfairly' pays less or who gets more.

Show me someone who happily pays tax while Kerry Packer doesn't and while 3 generations of a family live off handouts down the beach.

The priority picks are too concessional.

Didn't answer my question. Wasn't difficult. Do you take tax breaks for your million dollar business?

Do you believe that people who dont pay their fuill whack of tax take a handout from the other tax payers for public services such as roads and defence and education and police and fire brigades, and hospitals, and govt, etc etc etc.

And you are dead right, the rich man and poor man both have the choice to sleep under the bridge

Yeah and your mob are weaklings that had to be helped to get anywhere. A truly pathetic excuse for a club. Any success you achieve is thanks to being a bunch of welfare recipient handout draft bunnies.
