The point that was punched threw after the siren at half time needs to be removed from the Bombers score and Carlton awarded the win, the ball was dead as soon as it was touched before the goal line and can not be awarded as a point. Carlton needs to lodge a protest now, as there is precedent with the game in Tassie earlier in the year we should be awarded the game by 1 point and the draw should be struck out, Carlton need to take this all the way to the Supreme court if necessary. Go Blues!!!!!:thumbsu:

Im not sure if thats the case, interesting point tho. How that ball was punched through for a point is beyond me however, it was never in danger of being a goal so carlton player shoulda been punching it away from goals. Welshs 2 point play helped us tho.

So did the goal umpire missing the ball clearly touching Bret Thornton fingers in the first quarter from Lucas' kick.

Yes it could be over turned as you are right the point shouldnt have stood, but it wont be overturned, the AFL wont have a bar of overturning the result.

They did it in Tassie so the precedent is set therefore legally they have to if we take it further.:thumbsu:

The only thing we could protest on is the Lucas goal after Blind Freddy seen Thornton touch it.

Won't happen, anyway. Let's look forward to next week, shall we?

its a behind , but it doesnt matter alot of umpiring mistakes as usual ( what a coincidence that it always happens to carlton ) oh well bring on next week . Go blues !

Now you are just being ridiculous. It was clearly a behind. No doubt about it.

Check your facts, the rules say that if it comes of a opposition player after the siren has gone, it is no score. Theres no way in hell that the result will be changed, but they are the rules.;)

That is correct, if a player is having a shot after the siren as soon as the ball either touches a player or the ground the ball is dead.

They did nothing of the sort in Tassie ..IF you had of been paying attention you would have heard the AFL state that UMPIRES mistakes are a totally different kettle of fish than off the ground officials mistakes ....timekeepers etc

Waite should have kicked the goal after the brawl, Sentanta shouldnt have stuffed it up at the end, Fevola should have marked it at the end, blah blah blah. We didnt win, lets get ready for next week.

There's so many ifs and buts in a draw, always is, always will be.

The fact is, we had our chances in front of the big sticks and missed some sitters.

We don't know how to win.

If the Field umpires not sure then its up to the Goal Umpire being a Independent Goal Umpire i would have defently given it touched he could have reversed his Decision by telling the central before the balls bounced

Sure we can tell it's a behind now after watching the replays but during the live play it was impossible to tell if he touched the ball. It was only proved that Thornton touched the ball by watching slow motion close up replays

I didnt think it was touched to tell the truth. Who liked the way Thornton played? Best game hes played IMO

Played sensationally well, his coming along nicely.

I've heard some gooses say he should be delisted. One bloke called 3AW last weekend I think it was, and said 3 players should never play for Carlton again, Thornton was one of them.... I couldn't believe my ears.

If you ask me Carlton were lucky to get the draw. Didn't play good footy all day and didn't deserve to win IMO. Essendon were far better than us yesterday which is really sad because when you compare the two lists, Carlton are MILES in front yet we can't seem to put it together.

Frustrating!!! On paper we should have won by 10 goals.
