Who cares

Different things happen at different clubs, let it go.

Nathan Clarke is a very good coach, look out qafl

He may be the worlds best coach, but sounds like the players won't have the mental fortitude required when the going gets tough at the pointy end of the season.

Saw Labrador bounce back today, Sandgate were very disappointing. Let players run past under little to no pressure...Tigers were always going to come out on top!

Can I ask a question

What on earth has happened to the standard of the QAFL?
I watched cats v lions today admittedly it was breezy but it was awful. The gap between QAFL and NEAFL is gigantic
We had someone watch Panthers v Vultures and he said exactly the same thing
Lions v cats only looked decent when the thynne brothers or Callinan had the ball in hand and cats nippy types in Finn, Lancaster etc had it
Happy to hear reasons for this but I probably expected better

Agreed the QAFL standard has totally dropped this season. All credit to the Vultures but the Panthers where awful especially in the last qtr. It's good to see the 2016 QAFL Premiership is open, it looks like it has come at a price.

Don't agree that the standard has dropped at all.

I see plenty of clubs that have made improvement if they use their 2015 side as a benchmark, yet their output is much lower.

Therefore, I think the standard of the comp as a whole has improved significantly.

Having said that, when my old mate Troy Moncur can still dominate at 38 - perhaps the standard is a bit lacking ! :) :)

How many kicks drop short and simple handballs miss.... plenty in this league.

Have you watched the Dockers or Lions lately?

the gap between QAFL and NEAFL is minimal, there are shedloads of QAFL blokes better than plenty of NEAFL players.

Only have to look at some of the NEAFL listed players often playing QAFL reserves when they get sent back to club land...

That's probably because the NEAFL Clubs Southport, Redland and Aspley can't compete with the Clubs Like Morningside with their massive "Cheque Book" accounts. Lol

The standard between QAFL and NEAFL is huge, at least in QLD. Bottom QLD NEAFL side Southport would thump QAFL leaders Palm Beach. Still some very handy QAFL players running around who would be one of the first read out in any NEAFL side, but the drop off between a teams best and their 22nd players is far too wide.

Agree with you there to some degree .....I wouldnt say a huge gap but a big gap . This should be the case anyway , its the states top level of footy with the best available players .Its the same structure in comps anywhere ,, eg Take the QAFL and compare to the QFL Southern or Northern comps,, a big gap .. this applies everywhere.
Yes, there are players in the Qafl good enough to be at NEAFL level, but I wouldnt say plenty ,, maybe 10 or 12 at the most.
Good thing is its grassroots footy and the QAFL comp so far this year is providing a comp( so far) with numerous surprise results, and the improvement in sides like Mt.Gravatt, Surfers and Palm Beach etc is a fresh injection into the comp.... I mean we were all here in March saying it will be a Labrabor vs Morningside grand final,....a given !!! As of today, well its anyones prediction ,, could be a grand final involving either, Labrador, Morningside, Palm Beach, Mt Gravatt and Surfers.( I dont think the others will get there)
The QAFL standard is ok ,, I dont think its dropped off to much ,,and in saying that I dont think the NEAFL standard has improved at all !!

Suns fielded a handful of 17yr olds from NQ on the weekend and it was said to me that last year they were sent blokes who couldnt get a game in QAFL A grade to ensure the QAFL senior side wasn't disadvantaged - not sure you can say NEAFL would be streets ahead of QAFL in this case. No doubt better.

Lions NEAFL side is routinely topped up by Magpies Colts and Reserves.

The clubs largely don't have a say in who is asked, but the players can certainly say no.

A young Colt aged player who is playing Colts and Ressies isn't going to pass up an opportunity to get a game in the NEAFL with AFL listed players and AFL coaching/recruitment staff potentially present, or at least then watching the game tape. I know I wouldn't.

Even a young kid with designs on getting drafted probably isn't going to say no, even if he is a top line regular in a QAFL senior side.

However, if they ring up asking for Ryan Davey or Steve Brittain, I'm pretty sure what answer they will get!

I see the Lions last week took Pershouse and Copland from the Magpies, and the week before took Dennis. All 3 are Colts aged, and only 1 plays senior footy. Also had 16 year old Jake Warren from Maroochydoore, Gribble from Sandgate who is probably over 20 (?), Craig Lamberts kid, I think from the Panthers , Niland Rowe from Mt Gravatt and young Oliver Ritchie.

It's no wonder the Lions are winless. those are good young players, but they aren't going to do you much good in the NEAFL

As individual clubs yes they have improved, but the standard has definetly dropped

Warren and Ritchie are young players finding there way on NEAFL lists with plenty of upside
Gribble has been around a while and Lambert abit in limbo since missing out on State 18's side.
Niland Rowe a regular senior NEAFL player with Redlands but was squeezed out on weekend

NQ players were all mature age with the oldest being 27

No it isn't, that finished years ago.

It's topped up by Lions Academy and players from various NEAFL & QAFL clubs when state u18's play.

Magpies barely supplied a player in 2014, this year has been a bit different as stated above by QAFL_fan.

Wasnt Jake Warren from Maroochy QAFL - was another one.

The Academy players are often playing Colts or 2's footy. Bottom line is neither AFL side is full of bona fide NEAFL players.
