Yes palmy have been the for'm side all year so far, magpies are the smokies n expect Labrador to come home strong.
If Surfers hit their straps then can belt anyone or visa versa & its whether vultures n siders can do enough to stay in the 5.
None of these teams can afford to lose to anyone outside of the top 6 so away games to the lessor likes are still big danger games.

Agree, Siders and Palmy are teams I just don't see dropping games they shouldn't.

Pies on the other hand will rue losing at home to the Cats when 7 goals up and 3/4 time. Could cost them double chance and/or home final

Given the even nature of the comp, the double chance will be incredibly crucial as it wouldn't surprise me if the Premier loses a final.

Unless Palmy &/or Siders lose a few games & just hold on to 4th/5th, who ever does finish 4th & 5th will be playing good footy to secure those spots so I wouldn't be surprised if one of'm gives the flag a shake , considering one of'm will be coming home with a wet sail to make the 5 hence could be dangerous come finals time on a hiding to nothing.

At this stage of the comp, I feel Palm Beach are favorites,, have been consistent all season with no big injury list which allows them to perfect their game plans each week .
Labrador, has the best list in the comp , but their horrific injury list in the first half of the season has seen them become vulnerable ,,, with a lot of these injured players returning now , I expect they will be in the running to make the grand final .
Magpies and Morningside ,, well ,, wait and see... certainly capable of being there as well.
So I feel that will be the 4 teams in contention at this moment ,

Interesting results today, 6th placed surfers knocking off top of table pbc and must say surfers' best is definitely up there with the best teams in the comp. morningside not in great form and even could miss finals if they don't get it together.

Labrador and magpies looking good too

just had a look at the remaining draw have predicted the final ladder ( obviously subject to injuries )

1; PALM BEACH - 56
2; MAGPIES - 52
3; LABRADOR - 48
4; MORNINGSIDE - 48
5; SURFERS - 44

The Vultures to miss out on 42 .

Grand Final ... Palm Beach vs Labrador .
Winner ; Labrador

Labrador were very good on Saturday, very good. I'd be surprised if they didn't go back to back or at least make their 3rd straight big dance.

From what I've seen, i reckon Magpies vs Tigers in the GF, with the Tigers by a kick.

I see Labrador snuck in a late signing/recruit just b4 close of clearances on June 30th,
Former premiership Geelong player Max Rourke whom is an assistant at the Suns so Steve Danials coaching the Suns NEAFL team is the link one would imagine, could be a handy inclusion to the Tigers defence!

Morningside could miss out & soon be called the Sliders!

Max Rooke I think you mean and an absolute gun. He was just a sensational Cats player in their glory years - tough as old boots. Retired and went back to play for his old local club I think. Will be more than handy I am predicting ablett!!

Yeah that's him!
He'd have to mid to high 30's?
I knew he played locally after being delisted but not sure when he's last played?

If he's fit he'll be handy but if not he could be a cashing in on his past & taking a young kids spot.

34yrs old. Reckon he would be reasonably fit considering most of the assistants do some exercise at AFL clubs these days. I think you could look at it as he will add a fair bit to the Labrador group. Anyway time will tell.

Handy ? Cashing in on his past ? Seriously, what world do you live in ?

Yes it would be a shame, trying to promote their juniors and not trying to buy a premiership from Victoria or play any staff at the Suns who are keen for a kick.

Every club in the QAFL would have taken him on board if he came knocking

More politically correct bullshit. I'm sure aflq would appreciate having him play in their league-- helps to build the leagues profile. As far as Labrador goes, every other player will benefit from his experience and what he can teach the young guys on the list will be invaluable. Win, win. But then you get fools on here, poo- pooing it and accusing a club of buying a premiership from Victoria. The mind boggles !

What are you trying to say?
I seen many X Afl players cashing in on their surname/past & no better than any other player in the team.
I'm not saying Rooke is no value as I haven't seen him play recently, he was a good player at Geelong but that was a few years ago, time will tell.

Labrador would've dangled a big carrot I front of him like they did Fraser & Lappin last year.
If a club has the cash n contacts then spend it for success, no use having money in the bank & no success.

If it was about cash, he'd get far more in Victoria, so you can rule that out. As far as his current playing viability, you only need look at what Matty lappin achieved at the ripe old age of 41. Rookes only 34, he will smash it at this level.

Didn't Rooke retire at 27 with a degenerative knee?

I know the demands of QAFL and AFL are obviously different, but i suspect his knee is worse than your average 34 year old.

Will still be a machine at this level though

He went and played in the GFL I think Thommo - knee not good enough to train 7 days per week and play at AFL level but good enough to train 2x/wk I would think. He was the first bloke to get that calves blood put in to speed up / heal his injury from memory.

i just remember that i loved him as a player - not a cats supporter - but gee I rated him as a tough bugger who had a good level of skill.

Footballers footballer is the vernacular!!

Lappin was born in '76 so would've been 39 last year.
