Review QF: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly vs. Collingwood

If some of you are going to wet your pants over the Collingwood chants getting booed or Quaynor getting a few booes, then you aren't up to finals footy either.

Booing the way we did tonight demonstrates an inferiority complex and highlights how we don't have weekly rivalries at Adelaide Oval, unlike the Melbourne clubs do. It's a pretty clear observation I would've thought.

Almost every Pies player got booed, Quaynor wasn't alone.
Why do some people keep saying this?

Anyone who was at the game would clearly know this wasn't the case. Aside from Houston, Quaynor copped the loudest boos. Heck, the boos for him were probably even louder than for that thug.

It was honestly an embarrassment, and that's made the club public enemy #1 for all the wrong reasons.

You tell me...We need a big lift from our Leaders, Dawson and Fogarty for starters, both were awful tonight. A lot of the more experienced players did not perform. Peatling, Cumming, Hinge were very disappointing too. Murray maybe if Butts has another good gane in the SANFL, Dowling possibly though Luke Pedlar who replaced him was one of our more influential players tonight so he isn't getting dropped. Will Rachele be good to go?
Yep but structurally we can’t go in with as many defenders again. Who makes way? Surely it’s Bond for Max.

Complain about crows fans all you want. I heard multiple feral Collingwood fans the other week calling people F**got and threatening violence. They're horrible.

We've got shit supporters like every club

Yep, 100%.

But I’m a big believer in needing to call out shit behaviour when it’s your own people.

Pies fans acting like they’re saints though have very short memories, Adam Goodes was not that long ago.

Well Bond was way way better than Hinge who has been pretty ordinary of late too.

This season has been a good one which has meant we haven't tried much stuff.

Rolled with the same core group of mids, same structure, mostly same back 7, 3 key forwards.

Haven't altered much. Forced changes only.

Had to go back to Laird + Keays because that's all we have previous data on. Haven't changed it up with a smaller forward line, or subbing out a ruck to see how it goes, or Dawson sweeping across half back

Our only two "impact mids" we've experimented with were Rankine and Rachele - both out. Cupboard was bare untried.

We needed something different tonight and all we had up the sleeve was Max's one game up forward v Richmond

Easy now of course

Don't care. That sounds like a her problem. I'm interested in winning finals footy. Interested only in footy. The crows play footy that's all they need to do. Leave the moral bullshit for some other sphere of life.

If all you’re interested in is winning finals footy why boo Quaynor for something that has nothing to do with the game?

Weve gone too defensive. Even though we have been winning our last month or so has been a defensive slog.

Need more fluid ball movement and scoring. Playing a team full of defenders doesnt help.

Need more players with flair. And have to make the tough call. Bond or Max. Cant have them all plus Laird Smithers Hinge.

As good as hes been I would drop Bond and bring in Rachele.

I booed the Pies
I booed Houston for knocking out Rankine
I booed Cox because I think he’s a flog

Singling out Quaynor for no other reason than that he was the target of Rankine’s slur was disgusting. Equating that to being tough is cowardly behaviour.

Quaynor was targeting Rankine in Rd 23 and getting stuck into him all last game.

Has Quaynor been boo'd by our crowd before? NO.

I love how hypocritical you, old Jen and cromulent are. The boo police. Thank god you guys are here to tell us exactly who can be boo'd and for what reason.

Regarding Quaynor, whether right or wrong, many think he so called snitched is why the booing. Some people I've talked with and people at the game were saying it. It's not just because he was what the story revolved around. Possibly also due to him being verbally into Rankine a lot in that game.

The shit Houston said to Izak and his cheap hit last year deserve him to cop it. I thought the majority of the hostility would be at Houston, was surprised.

All true. We don’t have any tricks up our sleeve.

The worry was the football we saw tonight wasn't nerves or lack of finals experience

We played very similar football vs West Coast and North Melbourne, and in patches vs Hawthorn and Collingwood. The only difference tonight is that the bad bits went for longer and the good bits were shorter.

There was no discernible difference:
Panicky and fumbly under pressure
Resorting to panic bombs to their numbers
Cut up at ground level

Quaynor was clearly booed more than others.

The other players that got booed consistently were:

Houston - knocked out Rankine
Frampton - used to play for us
Cox - because he’s the arrogant American and people hate that

Quaynor - ask yourself why?

Seriously if you were one of the people who chose to boo him have a good hard look at yourself.
I never understand the booing of players that we didn't want (Frampton).

the biggest shame is that the best footy coaches in the state will be coaching at Adelaide oval on sunday. Nicks is a Hinkley lite. Mattner is the fella I would love as our coach

I think it was both: our form has Ben bad, and we also couldn’t cope with the finals pressure

I thought Pedlar was good. Tex as well although he had some.momentum killing moments. ANB was okay.

Two players were really dissapointing

Fogerty has to give more against the good teams and against the run of play. Otherwise he will finish his career with us playing a heap of games but as a nice average player. Almost Todd Marshall.like.

Milera has proved me.wrong all yeat until tonight which in some ways proves my poimt. He just doesn't have it in him to go hard at the ball and the man unless it's on his terms which in a final.becomes more obvious. He is a senior player in the team, he has to do better.

A good summary but this is on Nicks, no experimenting at all, and he finally pulls is one and only ace - Laird midfield.

His changes all a result of injury, and hes been like this since he took the helm

Smith, Bond and Berry are only found their way into the team due to injury/rests (Laird, Max, and Crouch). He is reactive not proactive, and paid the price for it tonight, on top of McCrae cooking him.

They took the game on and we didn’t.

We had no run.

Comprehensively out coached.

Players choked.

Awful performance
Mindset was terrible.

If we go down next week, we have to do it by attacking the game and hunting the win rather than shitting our pants.
