It won't matter who we play next week, I'm taking bets we get the win.
Funny you should say ... :sneaky:
Over Lunch on Friday my best mate asked who we played next. I said the winner of GWS vs Hawks but it wouldn't matter. Based on what I saw on Thursday night I said either side was going to beat us.
He said he'd bet $20 on us winning.
I said make it $50 and we shook on it (he also said Collingwood would go on to win the Flag, but no bet on that).

I don't know how we won our last 4 games, but we did. Fair enough.
I thought our wins over WCE and NM were the Crows playing smart, conserving energy, avoiding injuries, doing enough to win. Nicks had them playing three-paced footy, controlling a game like good sides do.
I'm pretty sure that's wrong.
The worst of Nicks and the Crows-under-pressure were exposed on Thursday night. Every team left will know how to beat us, specifically, turn up the heat and watch us turn into the (awful) 2024 Crows.

Absolutely.

But it's TT with the footy. At the end of the day it's TT with the call - its his decision and his responsibility.

TT made the wrong call. It's 100% on him.
Perceived pressure

They well and truly had us spooked by that stage

This whole argument is so flawed - I’m assuming you’re saying Quaynor was Rankine’s work colleague?

Do you physically compete with your work colleagues?
Do you bump, scrag your work colleagues at the photocopier?
Are you fighting for a win with your colleagues?

Is your whole success based around beating your colleagues?

Yeah I dislike when the AFL and AFLPA refer to the playing field being a "workplace". I can understand if we're talking about being at the club in meetings or training etc.

Once you cross the white line by all means treat your opponents with respect and with a duty of care but you can't compare anything that happens out there with standard workplace law, otherwise all 46 players would be booked for assault as they walked off the ground.

I rate your posting :thumbsu:, but we'll have to beat the Hawks or GWS first, no? :confusedv1:

(I certainly did not tip us to go 18-5 on the back of an undefeated run after the Bye, which was great fun)
Yeah of course which is what the post I replied to was based on, getting through to a PF. If indeed that happens it will have been an amazing turn around from previous seasons. Not too unexpected from me having tipped us to finish 5th after the home and away.

Was quite a night

Top team beaten at home

0-4 in finals vs Collingwood

Our best player is out suspended

Our crowd booed a black player for his role in the Rankine saga, in an attempt to be branded both homophobic and racist in one fell swoop

And on the way home from the game I rear-ended a police car

Okay I made up that last bit

My night included getting to the corner of Morphett and Hindley Street and my wife realising that she had lost her phone.

We managed to log into her google account and track her device (thankfully it was still at the ground) so we had to run back to Adelaide Oval against the flow of foot traffic to get back there before they shut the gates to get her phone which was thankfully on the ground near where we sat.

Yeah it was fun night 😐

Left my phone on a train in Paris. Raced back to the station. Train was still at same platform. Ran down the platform. Found the carriage. Dived in. There was a cleaner working his way down the aisle. Shot past him and one seat in front is my phone just sitting there. Picked it up and showed him. Should have seen the shitted off look he got on his face when he realised he nearly scored a brand newish iPhone 14.

The bastard. My French friends said I'd have never seen the phone again if he'd gotten there first. 🤣🤣

Sounds like you got very lucky with that.

I think my wife and I also got a lucky break, my wife has a Samsung Flip Z 6 and because it was closed and sitting face down I don't think people realised it was a phone.

You think it’s the player we’ve lost that’s derailed or the bullshit surrounding it?

Both - with the player we lost being the biggest factor (the distraction and bullshit compounded it).

The loss of Rankine is massive. We saw the effort that Collingwood put into him in Rd 23. A player of his caliber affects how the opposition plays and coaches against us.

That game was lost in a 15 minute burst during the 3rd quarter when the Pies kicked 5 straight and we couldn't get near the ball. Dawson had 1 kick in that 3rd quarter.

What makes him such a loss is that he can hurt you anywhere. He can win the game in the midfield or resting up forward.

I have said a few times on here we have 4 genuine matchwinners on our team - TT, Rankine, Dawson, Rachele. We were missing two of them at the most important time of the year.

Its the dumbest argument on this forum, with plenty of the nuffies constantly sprouting "if I did that in my work place....."

I think we destroy either GWS or Hawthorn next week.

After being a sad sack for a couple of days I am actually feeling very positive now. We are actually in a better position to win the flag now than we were 1 week ago.

1 week ago we needed to win 3 in a row to get the flag, but we would not have Rankine for the most important game. This week we need to win 3 in a row to get a flag, but if we get to the grand final we get one of our top 2 players back. This also gives Rachele a game before the prelim. He hasn't played since July so he can get through a bit of rust this week and be better placed to really impact the Prelim.

The real pressure and bullshit surrounding the Rankine debacle is over now (for the moment). Tex's 300 is done and dusted. The AFL news cycle is all on the other finals. We have 2 days rest more than our next opponent. All we have to focus and worry about is how shit our performance and how lucky we are to have a 2nd chance.

The path to glory now goes through 2 games at the MCG and one at home. Brilliant.

Dawson, TT, Keays, FOG can't all be bad two weeks in a row!

I BELIEVE!

We just never looked all that interested which could have been coming from being completely overawed at the whole situation.
The slur campaign and the unrealistic media jump on is continuing now with the “they’re so nasty they booed”

I was super keen to boo Houston and did so - his hit on Rankine in the showdown was a dog act his alleged taunts the other week was worse.

I was seated in section 140 I think 95% of section 141 were Collingwood supporters- there was a particular group in there that made Thomas Sewell look like a nice guy - the behaviour and comments were appalling.

Perhaps some of the Quaynor booing resulted from frustration at our own team’s lack of mojo and also at an attempt to have a retort at the loud Collingwood crowd.

It’s football let’s move on -it’s not like we were playing against the Christian Boys choir the Collingwood club has constantly been involved in unsavoury moments
Your dead right, Its actually pathetic how Crow haters and rivals have turned the whole situation into a tool to destroy the clubs reputation and season through the media.

Houston was getting booed for last years coward knockout, I thought Quaynor was getting it for the constant off the ball shit he was dishing out to Rankine in round 23, how's the cheek of these hypocritical pieces of shit to report it was anything more.

My brother was lucky he realised at the concourse

Stuck between our seats so very lucky - apart from having to climb Mt Everest to get back to our seats

Haven’t we realised by now that crowd booing is just a thing that can’t be stopped. No matter how many virtue signalling media people or woke fans complain about it, it will continue.

We are allowed to be frustrated at the Rankine fallout. The crowd did that by booing.

Get over it, move on.

It was a catastrophic loss and this is distracting nonsense that makes people not want to go the footy.

Let kids be kids, he likes Daicos, who gives a ****.
Kid can like whoever he wants. If he can kick a footy half as good as his old man when he's 18, well, Tex didn't play 100 games for Collingwood.
