Game Day QF1 Crows vs Pies 2025-09-04 - This time it's personal!

That is the only MCG game I've ever attended. Went over with my Crows-supporter girlfriend at the time, and two Collingwood supporting mates. They were grumpy as **** at half time, haha. Different story by the end of the match.

Long drive back home.

Yeah. Same here.
The Pies fans around us in the Members Reserve were ultra quiet through the whole game until the last quarter.
Then when they got a sniff of coming back in the last they were into us Crows supporters big time. Couldn't shut them up.
Then when the free was given after we took the mark in our D50 I just turned to my daughter and said that the AFL umpire fix had worked and we were well and truly screwed.
Then Anthony kicked the goal and the script was complete.
Truck's free kick was appalling in the circumstances of the game. Still one of the most pathetic decisions I have seen given against us. It would NEVER had been given if the teams were reversed.
And then the real abuse started when we were surrounded by loving caring Pies supporters and spat on and told to F Off back home (amongst other numerous pleasantries).
My 18 year old daughter and her friend were in tears. I just wanted to punch someone (but didn't). The train ride home was equally appalling.
I desperately need to cleanse this memory with a win tonight. DESPERATELY!

We dominated that game and choked after halftime, we should have never let them back.

Before Rutten's hold. Remember Tippett got a free and goaled from the boundry just 30 seconds earlier. Maxwell was in despair as the goal went through but I knew it was not over. But then when Rutten held Anthony I turned the TV off straight away and stormed out of the room.

And not to mention the Collingwood fan pretending to be an Adelaide fan yelling RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!. Don't worry, Geelong taught them a real lesson the week afterward.

The media have never moved on from that.

History is certainly against us and if we somehow manage to win tonight it will be our biggest win since the 1998GF without a doubt. But right now I'm keeping quiet, don't want to get too carried away.

Cox hasn't exactly shown better form at AFL level than McStay for a very long time, just an odd selection for a final. Especially since it appears Collingwood aren't offering Cox a new contract (I think)?

and the best way to get another contract offer?

His previous finals, twice he has changed the game with 3 goals (in a qtr at least one time) came from no where re his form leading up to those games. This year agreed he has been feeble though agreed.

Wondering if either coach starts the game with a positional swifty - even if just on a temporary basis. Pies putting Josh D in the opening square leaving Max "redundant" in the forward line. Would Nicks dare start Curtin in the square?
