Hey guys, can I have your thoughts please.

Jace Bode played a few senior games for us this year and when I saw him play I thought he did alright. Furthermore I couldn't get over how much he resembled Michael Aish (Norwood champion) in the way he looked and played (IMO anyway). Don't get me wrong, I am not getting carried away that Bode will be a champ or anything but if there are any Norwood/Sturt (it doesn't matter I guess) supporters can you please tell me if I am off the mark here. Given he hasn't played many games for the Dees many of you probably wouldn't be too sure and Aish played a fair while back. Thanks for any proper replies I appreciate it and if I am bothering you guys with this post I won't bother you again.

PS I figured if I posted this in the Port board they would just tell me where to go.:(

First of all RandB when you deal with criminals you can be expected to be treated without respect.

Hopefully someone here will show you some courtesy and provide a response.

With that said I was sad that M Aish never played for the AFC, only because given at the time the number of people that were in our squad at the time and the number that played less than 5 games, he easily could have played a solid season or two. Probably the other big name never to have played for the Crows was Gary MacIntosh probably I am sure personally in hindsight he would be regretting his decision imo. ( Note I am talking about here players that were not contracted to any other AFL club at the time). Geeez I was hoping so much that sticks Kernahan would have played for us and Bradley.

Note that at the time, it was a different world back then. You picked the best players at the time as opposed to a good 17 or 18 year old. Imagine in hindsight if the club had drafted a solid squad of 17 or 18 year olds hmmm???!!!! ( I think Benny Hart is the only one that springs to mind, great selection that!) Draft picks meant absolutely nothing back then. Look at what Brisbane got for Buckley those kind of deals would never happen today. Even to a lesser extent McLeod. ( We robbed freo so well, lol lol here please take Chris Groom, great player he will be for your club, no wonder we will never get Pavlich, lol )

Geez it makes look back at the club, I remember there was a thought the club could amalgamate with St Kilda (The Advertiser did an article about the team that would be formed and how profitable it would be for the club)
Oh and there was the potential takeover of the club by the Norwood Football Club in 1996. I think the flag in 97 all but sealed that deal being canceled.

Good cricketer, Jace Bode. Left arm quick from Sturt. Bit of a man-child though, always had a size advantage. Catching up with him now? Reminds me more of a Shannon Hurn-type than Michael Aish. I was surprised not to see him play a few more games last year, particularly given the Demons average season. When he played at Sturt he seemed most at home on a back flank.

Went to the same school as Jace for a while, definitely a good cricketer, saw him absolute destroy the Scotch 1st XI whilst he was still in year 10. I tend to agree with Carl, he was fully grown in year 9 or 10 and hence I think everyone has caught up with him. Probably should have gone in the National draft after he made the AA team, but I hear he was a little arrogant in his interviews.

Was always good off the half back line, is super quick and got a good long kick on him, it was good to see him get a few matches and retain his spot in the side, hope he does well.

Very arrogant.

Thanks for all the responses.:thumbsu:

Having only seen him play a few games I am no where near qualified to judge Bode's footy ability or style like you guys. I must say though he does seem to run the lines a bit and kicked a few decent goals for us when the rest of the players just wanted someone else to kick the goals and for the season to just finish. I guess the Aish comparison is mostly appearance, there is just something about the Gargamel look and running style that reminded me of Aish. Hopefully Bode can be a decent player for us.

Anyhow all the best for season 2008! My old man is a manic Crows supporter so I hear everything there is to know about them (usually over and over again).

Your Dad has good tastes. Why aren't yours as good?

Brought up on Norwood as a kid but not as passionate about SANFL as I haven't lived in SA for a while. Was converted to a Melbourne supporter when I went there at a young age ('87 holidays and they were great to watch then as well.) long before the Crows joined. I respect the Crows but will always follow the Dees... somebody has to.:)

Yeah I wouldnt have thought he was anything like Aish in the way he played or looked. He would have been heavier than Aish at the age of 16.

Was very friendly with his mother for a few months when he was playing for Sturt, he was an absolute **** then, and I'm sure he is still an absolute ****. It would appear that I'm not the only person who hates him.
You wouldn't be wrong there, I hear he is quite the arrogant type. A bit of a shame really, seeing as he has more than enough talent to make it at senior level.

Sounds like the blue and red has rubbed off on you. Norwood to Melbourne. Grew up in SA and loved the mighty red legs, lost a bit of touch with what happens in the SANFL nowadays but i still remember the great man Gary Macintosh. Jeez what a player he would have been in the afl. Have fond memories of the 85 grand final when we were so far in front in the last quarter everybody could laugh when our fullback kicked it straight to the port full forward. Neil Balme maybe kicked it....

I know Jace and he has calmed down heaps in the last few years.

Someone said they expected him to have played more games last year, but he had a shocking back injury. Couldn't even sit down on a couch because it was that painful.
