Surely Tex needs a week off, he could barely break out of a trot last night. Pedlar his replacement who was pretty good yesterday in the SANFL? Could rotate forward/mid with Rankine and Rachele?

I want to see Pedlar in the side at his best, but I’d be playing Draper ahead of him as a half forward/mid. Berry is a waste of time. His 7 touches coming on fresh for 30% TOG calculates out to 18 if he played 80%. We’ve got numerous players who would provide no less. I’d be rolling them through sub to work out who we can rule a line through. This group doesn’t have a competing 23 yet, we need to unearth a couple more top 10 players. Stockpiling depth at this point will anchor us as a ‘make the 8 and anything can happen’ side.

I’m not, if you checked my posting prior to round 1, I was never happy with playing 4 talls ahead of the ball. I know he spends a lot of time pushing up the ground, but unless you’re getting into the contest, there’s not a lot of possessions to share between 3 wingmen. I’d rather an extra mid or genuine half forward type, but I’m happy carrying Curtin until Tex goes. We’re not winning the flag this year, so might as well get games into him.

It tough because Curtin certainly plays a role in stretching the defence whether he’s getting the ball or not, but when we’re getting pantsed in the midfield and struggling to hold the ball in our forward line because of 4 talls you are robbing peter to pay paul.

Id like Dowling, Draper, Pedlar, Edwards and Bond to come in. But can't see how that could happen.

Tex rested, Milera dropped.

Would like to keep Curtin (good 2 games ago) and Taylor (showing some great signs).

Nank slightly better last night, but still not having a great season.

ROB still does stupid things, but McAndrew would be a gamble.

Nank hasn't been mentioned much, but he had a decent game. It was the right decision not to drop him after last week.

Yep. Certainly improved.

I think our midfield needs something, and Dowling and Draper were bloody good yesterday. Rankine and Dawson probably shouldn't be full time mids.

Hard to pick out anyone else who should definitely be dropped.

Why would you drop Milera after his body of work in the last month? Many worse performers - Nank, Curtin,,Draper when playing

I seriously don’t get the Milera hate on this board. Was in coaches votes last weekend,

I mean, if you're trying to say he hasn't been that bad, then you use 3 blokes with less than 80 games between them, maybe that's not the best argument.

Needs to lift majorly.

Along with Curtin, hasn't really been given the chance to settle into a position. We need to give him a good run at being a forward now.

Tex has been steadily deteriorating in terms of mobility for weeks. He's still finding ways to contribute offensively, but his defensive action is non-existent. The problem is that it gets to a point where the bad aspect outweighs the good. If 300 games is a non-negotiable, then I'd extend him now and give him at least a month off to refresh his body properly and then do similar leading into finals. My changes would be;

Out Tex
Out Milera, Cumming to half back, Curtin to wing
Out Berry
In Draper to half forward/midfield rotation
In Pedlar forward/mid rotation
In sub Dowling or Jones to see if either can get up and going on a wing.

The wing spot is a real conundrum. Even Nank is marginal in that role.

When you equalised TOG, he was getting the pill more than Cumming. I know there's more to it, but his efficiency was marginally better. I know Cumming has hit up a few insanely crisp targets, but the difference between the two shouldn't have had one dropped and the other lauded.

Very little between our 2 wingmen, apart from about 5 brilliant kicks, mostly in one game. Both being played in a role that's not their best.

We could genuinely run 8 players through there and keep our midfield much more fresh. But we favour continuity at selection and in game.

Again, equalise TOG and there's SFA difference between Nank and Milera. And Nank is playing a role that's not his best that also doesn't provide opportunity for pissy sideways receives and free kick outs from points. To say Milera is underdelivering, considering he's keeping better half backs out of their preferred role, is a massive understatement.

It's worked for Worrell, he's flying.

Charlie can't be far away

What if Doedee didn't finally miss through injury? He kept playing injured, just like Crouch did. We don't introduce up and coming players ahead of struggling seniors unless forced. Eventually we do, ie Smith and Murphy, but gee they play a lot of bad footy before being overtaken.

There was an element of making Worrell wait due to past indiscretions. Not saying that's the right way to do it, but it's what they did.

We do need to put some games into Edwards, Ryan, Dowling and obviously Draper.

That’s not why they made him wait, they made him wait because they preferred an injured Doedee because he had experience and they thought they couldn’t play together.

There’s one glaring issue with Sid Draper’s game, which worried me when we recruited him — and even more after watching him yesterday.

He doesn’t kick the ball. For a player with such line breaking speed, it’s such a waste to be so handball happy. He should be a huge metre eater. If he can’t change his game, we are going to lament not picking Langford ahead of him. 17 handballs yesterday. 7 kicks.

Fix it, AFC. And he can do it in the SANFL I reckon.

We aren't going to lament it at all.

Some of these reactions are silly.

Langford is a better player. Simple, we would’ve known that. Picking the local with skills we lack, pace etc leant us to him. When Butters leaves port it will screw them. The AFL model is a convoluted Vic bias mess so we must play our hand accordingly.

We will regret Langford but Draper is always home. Come on Sid!

Do you have a problem with going early ??

Milera has to go out. Enough’s enough. Wasn’t a fan of him playing round 1, but I wanted it to work.
Too many costly errors and turnovers.
Edwards would be the obvious replacement, but I’d go as far as to say I’d prefer Smith to Milera. Come at me 🥊
