Let’s just say I’d be very worried that the Pies’ time I50 doubles ours, if this happens
Hinge has played ok on Elliott before.

We are in trouble if Pies dominate inside 50's.

Even more so if we play one of our worst defensive players on their gun forward.

Talking about McCreery - he’s a menace in regards to F50 pressure. He’ll run Laird completely off his feet
Laird is fine aerobically... was a midfielder!

But he is average overhead!

He’s slow, though. Aerobics is pointless when you’re being beaten by your opponent’s burst sprints constantly
Rank the most dangerous Pies forwards...

Laird plays on the forwards who cover more ground like midfielders... like McCreery... not the marking targets like Elliott.

Really . In thinking it’s Curtin

I suspect if we were thinking to sub Curtin, we would have dropped him instead, due to the weather. Double whammy of we've been willing to be very patient with Dan this year and the Geelong game last year is a good reminder we really don't have a clue how to use Dan as a sub.

On the other side Taylor fits what we've liked as a sub this year (seeing we have been quite keen for an additional inside midfielder in this role) and hasn't nailed down the half forward role in the month he's had it.

It looks like we've stuck to our guns with our ball movement game, and just backed it to hold up in the wet against a strong defensive unit.

Again, more worried about McCreery’s burst speed and pressure, rather than his aerobic capacity

We’re not going to agree on this lol

McCreery is nowhere near as much of a concern as Hill or Elliott... who are genuine matchwinners.

Well, yes.

I'm thinking Michalanney should go to whichever out of Elliot and Hill is the most dangerous.
I don't think we have anyone but Max to take Hill given our refusal to bring in Bond... which would have allowed Max to take Elliott.

Offensive match winners, yes

McCreery is as much a defensive matchwinner as there is in the comp

It’s a bit damned if you do, damned if you don’t with their forwards

So why are we bothering worrying about the McCreary matchup then?

He'll get the job on Hinge.

It’s a fair concern

It’s really a matter of to what extent talent can overcome coaching, which IMO it did last Saturday. Also whether Nicks can learn a few more things - odds not in our favour there, but possible

I also don’t think our midfield will again be overall that shit many times this year
The issue there is we keep saying that like he's in his 2nd year as a senior coach, not his 6th. I just don't see the improvement coming from him in regards to game feel, tactics and decision making at this point. He's a finished product and he's got obvious flaws in critical areas.
