The way we used to deal with people thinking they knew everything in the past was to make prediction threads. If you know something, you should be able to call it better than others. Yer, sure, in one thread someone might get lucky but if they do it time after time, then its skill, not luck. That's why you need a decent amount of those threads and to keep track of them over time to see who the best ones are. Captain hindsights are a dime a dozen and not worth shit to anyone. There's plenty of them around. In fact, this has inspired me with an idea for a new thread. See if you can pick it.

You probably own a Harley.

He needed to be Blights genius, that was his job. He was the main man.

He was clearly a good coach in some aspects, and not so much in others.

I don’t think it helped that people like Trigg were so enthralled to him. That probably left a bit of gap in terms of management and accountability.

I remember when Craig Ricciuto told me it was going to be Neil Craig. I was livid. Was one of the first times in my life I felt like calling talk back radio. I’d seen the mess he created at my beloved Redlegs close up.

Then when we started winning, CraigR would remind me of my original position at every opportunity. I wasn’t convinced, but the results were stacking up.

I eventually conceded I might have been unfair.

Then after failing to convert all that dominance into a single flag, I admonished myself for not holding the line!! (For the record CraigR made fun of me for that too [emoji23])

I’m not sure if my “feeling” of Nicks is fixed in hope or delusion from years of seeing us turn into a clusterfark on the verge of achievement … but I do see something different in him, in his ball movement changes, in the way we scrap.

Selection still regularly baffles me.

What does worry me is the machine behind him. Hopefully Silvers is more active. I pray to the footy gods that we can actually rebuild the club on-field and avoid another nearly era. A huge part of that is recruitment, we have a few very good ticks in the last couple of years … but we are coming from a long way back.

I’m not feeling the same luke warm fuzzies about the end result. Pessimism is ruling that part of my cranium.

I've got great news for you, we'll definitely be avoiding another nearly era.

Now I have retired the truth can come out. I am Dmack.
Hi David,
Big claim to be the most spoken of player in BF history. Can I just verify such a big claim? (Ireally want this to be true)

Collingwood vs Crows - MCG. Who were you watching with and where?

Why worry about a predictions thread when you can just use the search function.

Here, look, I’ll show you:

No, I think we agree on the fundamental premise. I accept that some individuals, no matter how talented, can be so toxic that their net effect on results is negative.

Is that Stengle? I guess it’s possible.

Do I trust the club enough, with its current record, to make that judgement? Do I trust everything that is happening with Stengle is entirely his fault, and not owing in any way, shape or form, to the club or its handling of him?

I trust it about as much as I trust drinking from the toilet in Jack is Back’s penthouse.
I’m not saying never sack anyone, but it’s not the big self-congratulatory stand people think it is. It’s basically giving him away for free. Maybe he’ll turn out to be a problem child everywhere he goes, but at this point in time, do you really trust that its Stengle and not the club?

This club has a proven track record of ******* up everything it touches, so at this point, no, I don’t trust it.
The decision should come down to:

Does Stengle’s net effect on the football club, warts and all, trend us further into the win column or the loss column? If it’s the latter, I have no issue getting rid of him.

However, if you are basing the decision on anything other than that question, you are a loser, and you will always be a loser, and I have absolutely no faith that our club is not full of losers like that, because for the best part of the last 20 years, it has been full of losers like that.
The question is will Stengle get another go somewhere else?
Highly unlikely.
