Yep, and out:

McHenry
Berry (to sub)
Burgess (leave Borlase up forward)
Strachan (injured)

Bring Rankine and Tex back after the bye. Curtin won't be brought in.

In fact with where we are now, what possible excuse is there NOT to debut Taylor, bring Curtin in, try Edwards to give him a taste etc. The entire rest of this year should be getting as many games into our youngsters as possible to build for next year
I honestly reckon inside West Lakes they still think they are a chance of making finals…and are probably using last year where at the same point Sydney (20pts), GWS (20pts) and Carlton (18 points) all got in….as hopelessly deluded and stupid as that is….but you know, Crows

Personally hoping for the following (but fully aware it wont happen).

In: Out
Tex: Burgess
ROB: Strachen
Rankine: Murphy
Curtin: Smith
Cook: McHenry
Taylor: Berry
Murray: Worrell
Pedlar: Keays

Worrell????

You dropping someone whose already injured

There’s no way Rankine will be risked against the Swans. Hammies typically require 3 weeks, he’s had 2 and the week after the Swans game is a bye. He won’t play.

Himmelberg is also still another week away and was clearly marked as “2 weeks” on the injury list prior to the Richmond game. He’s not playing at either level.

Very limited info on Cook, but let’s assume he’s actually good to go.

Let’s also assume Tex is passed fit.

Seems inevitable that Strachan is unavailable.

N Murray has done everything asked of him and seems ready to return to the senior side.

So, based on all of that, plus SANFL form, team balance, and the disastrous performances of some of the senior players against Hawthorn and Richmond, the sensible selections would be….

Out:
Strachan (inj), McHenry (omitted and never plays again), Smith (omitted and is now a backup player only), Berry (omitted and will never be a best 22 player), Burgess (omitted and never plays again), Borlase (omitted)

In:
O’Brien, Cook, Walker, Taylor, Pedlar, N Murray

Sub:
Pedlar

Notes:
1) Borlase is by far the most unlucky omission, but he’s being outplayed as a key defender by a resurgent Jordon Butts, and with Cook and Walker returning to the forward line, and Murray returning to defence, there’s just no spot left for him. Keane has been poor for the last few games, but at least possesses some attacking flair and creativity which we desperately need in terms of balance back there, so he beats out Borlase for that last spot.

2) Pedlar doesn’t necessarily deserve a call-up, but he just suits the sub role better than a tall or a boring mid type (or Smith). I suppose we may roll with Berry in this role. He’s certainly less terrible as a sub than he is as a full-time mid.

3) Laird, Hamill, Jones and Schoenberg are probably the luckiest 4 to survive the axe (the fact that Keays and Murphy aren’t in this list tells you how shit we are). Laird simply must be moved out of the centre bounce mix NOW - I would swap him and Schoenberg around against Sydney just to see if either benefit from that change of role, then flat out drop them both for the following game (Rankine and Pedlar the likely replacements to come into the 22) if there’s no real improvement.

Jones is bog average, and Hamill isn’t a long-term solution.

I’m sure Nicksy and co will find a way to dump Dowling, or retain Berry in the starting 22, or go again with Burgess, or roll with Smith’s valuable losing experience again though.

He's had 3. But probably correct that he plays after the bye. Think I agree with your changes for the most part though I can't see both of Taylor and Pedlar coming in, think it's one or the other, especially if Dowling is retained. Laird should be close to being an out but I think he'll stay in for Sydney.

In terms of what will actually happen, Hamill is more likely to be dropped than Smith and I think it'll be Pedlar over Taylor, but I could see the rest occurring.

Yep, all we need to do is win at least 8 of our last 10 games which include:
Sydney twice
Brisbane at the Gabba
Geelong at GMHBA (where we haven’t won since 2003)
Our bogey team GWS
Our other bogey teams, Essendon (away) and Hawthorn

Simples… 🤪

What will we do with our key defenders?

Can't imagine we'd play all of Butts, Keane and N Murray all at once but maybe we will
In the absence of Worrell, I think we will, with Keane in the Worrell role.

Keane really can be your floating third option. Butts and Murray as FB and CHB. Borlase try as your third tall in the Forward Line.

Time to play our best young talent as even Nicks knows we won't be playing finals.

At least try him in the role to see whether it suits him.

The rest of the season is about preparation for next season.

What reasons are the club giving us to turn up & watch them?

I had a sick dog to care for, so was a nobrainer to give my tickets away last Thursday night... & said to my neighbour who used my tickets that I think it will close & we could easily lose.

Trying to reconcile in my mind the value of today's SANFL performances - Are Sydney of a similar standard to South Adelaide?

I just know that team selection will disappoint yet again, it's Nicks strong point, to disappoint at selection.

Club hierachy got a pasting in today's Herald Sun
