Maybe but he is either injured now or has given up

His lack of or outright refusal to take an extra step and tackle makes Rory Atkins look like Rory Sloane

If he is injured step away and rest for next year - if not the coach needs to - oh why bother
2nd best tackler in the league only 2 years ago too, I hope it's been injury holding him back as I do think he's better than the output we've seen this year.

If Smith, Tex and Laird are all out this week and ROB comes back we will go to about 1300-1350 games of experience total...

North Melbourne play with about ~1800 each week (including Shiels) and Ben Keays will be our most experienced with 126 games sans Walker.

Most sides will go in with about 2100-2700.

Frightening level of inexperience for an established side.

That's because Nicks has spent a lot of effort "rebuilding" the side by pumping games into said omitted senior players (and other trash tier players) rather than developing the next generation

Clearly Tex pulled up a little sore after training last night, sensible decision to give him more time. He said earlier in the week that last nights session was the critical one for him.

Games Played Under Nicks
Brodie Smith last two years - 34
Rory Sloane last two years - 22
David Mackay - 28
Jake Kelly - 35
Lachlan Murphy - 72
Ned McHenry - 70
Elliott Himmelberg - 37

Total - 298 games

None of these players are part of our next premiership team

Games Deficit From Not Playing AFL
Luke Nankervis last two years - 22
Josh Worrell last four years - 44
Brayden Cook - 50
Luke Pedlar - 29
Darcy Fogarty - 21
Harry Schoenberg - 20
Riley Thilthorpe - about 10
Dan Curtin - 11
Jake Soligo - 6
Billy Dowling this year and a few last year - 18
Zak Taylor - don't know if he'll make it but could have been tried and have 20 games

Total - 253 games

And for most players that isn't even every single game at AFL level, just reasonable exposure given their talent, draft status and our performances

Fischer McAsey - if he was good and played most games, 50+ more games

10 goals from 7 games whilst working on a farm up until two weeks ago and he isn't even SANFL ready? lol, lmao, even.
Might as well give him a sighter game while we wait for Thilthorpe to return.

Our season's shot. What have we got to lose?

Players We Will Need to Replace

Reilly O'Brien - 92 games under Nicks, turns 29 this year, no clear replacement

Matt Crouch - 45 games under Nicks, currently 29, phased out then reintroduced

Rory Laird - 93 games under Nicks, turns 31 this year, definitely not in our next premiership team

All of these players have had question marks over their performances under Nicks and it's another big chunk of experience that will need turning over before a flag. 230 games in total to them under Nicks so far

I think the club would have been hoping that Smith, Laird and O'Brien's form would have held up better, and Milera not getting injured so often.

Correct, it's been caused by absolutely 0 squad rotation

Crouch stays imo, the other two can go.

Interesting RE Tex, sounds like he might be named but given until last minute Saturday to see how he feels if plays or not...

Pleased we are not playing him out of desperation & gets another 2 weeks break to come back fresh after the bye.

Would prefer if we can get him back near his best to play on next season... but that means managing him properly.

At least we have some options to replace Laird and Crouch. Rachele, Dowling, Pedlar, Edwards, Taylor could all play midfield if they are given an opportunity.

ROB'S replacement will need to come from another club as we have ignored our ruck stocks for so long and have no options on our list.
