I still cant wrap my head around the fact Murphy is getting a game at the expense of Draper and to a lesser extent, Edwards.

Yesterday's game could not have been more on a platter to give one of them an opportunity and we chose to waste another game on Murphy.

Realistically if we were proactive we could have had Edwards up to 6-7 games by now.

Putting on my selectors hat I have come up with following discussion

Taylor was excellent on the weekend offensively and defensively and looked a class above with his ball use. Was quiet in last qr

Charlie was quiet and Oscar played well only in the second half

Murray played satisfactorily but was no standout

Draper had a fitness test before game and is favouring an ankle. He was also quiet in the first half but played well after half time looking more confident with his leg and taking the game on

McAndrew was impressive once more and Harry and jones after qr time helped to take north out of the game.

Borlase outstanding and he continues to grow in confidence at this level

Nank had a nearly game. Was very good in first qr when others struggled. Kicked a few goals and nearly held two strong marks in the forward line

Burgess looks fitter, more mobile and confident than his last two years

Based on this the possible ins based on form
And selection integrity would be Taylor Burgess borlase McAndrew Harry and jones

Possible outs: Murphy - if he plays again this week he must play as a mid. He was much better in last qr when switched into middle. Much better players at half forward.

Cumming- he doesn’t get the ball enough atm but he is a good decision maker and user of the ball

Smith- he was more than solid on the weekend and based on his form will not be dropped even though there is a large body of people who would like other younger players in his place

Playing Max forward was a master stroke. He could be the defensive forward we need to play on defenders such as Weddle Daicos Stewart Zorko etc

Edwards was taken as the 21st best player in the draft as illustrated by 20 other players being selected ahead of him.

Ashton Moir was taken as the 29th best player in the draft as illustrated by the fact 28 other players were chosen ahead of him.

In the 2024 there were 71 players taken. According to the idiots at the AFL:

28 were first rounders.
12 were second rounders
16 were third rounders
10 were fourth rounders
5 were fifth rounders.

Two players are fast running out of time to find some form. Soligo and Cumming.

We have invested a large chunk of salary cap into Cumming. He needs to go to half back. Let Milera(preference) or even Hinge waste away in that 2nd wing spot opposite Curtin.

Soligo had 11 games in 2024 where he had 25+ possessions. He started the season amazingly well hitting that in all of the first 4 matches and averaging 27.5 touches. Since then he has averaged 18 disposals a game and hasn't hit the 25 disposal marker once. Soligo is a crafty player, but IMO isnt a massively high impact player with his disposals. Need to see his performance lift.

He is doing all the right things and Tex is struggling to run, reward SANFL form. Tex can work on getting his opponent boundary side in the magoos

Yes and no. When it works it will look spectacular but when it doesn't our defense will get run off it's feet, you'd be expecting the others to be doing a lot of the running.

I'd expect it not to work more often than work

Absolutely. Peatling is the best of the 3 with the highest upside.
