While you're at it, bring it back to the 5pm announcements instead of the 6.25pm news special that they pushed it back for in the first place - only for it to basically be skipped over during the news coverage...

I think it's usually around 5:50PM, right? That's when I normally hear about it.

Although I guess that's 6:20PM EST.

The key to selection this week is where we play Michalanney. Do we get hi do do a job on Salem or say last week he ticked the box and will go back to defence until this role is needed again.

I would give Max another week forward and make the following changes;

In - Taylor. Out - Murphy

In - Edwards. Out - Smith

A tough call on Brodie but we know what he offers and he can slip in seamlessly if required later this year. He may also be suffering some fatigue after his 5 cm growth burst this year.

Annoyingly, Curtin only got a bunch of games towards the end of last year because we couldn't make finals.

In the wreckage of the season, we scrambled around for some late season positives.

That little block of games he was afforded hasn't taken long to pay dividends. He would have taken feedback, confidence etc into the preseason and it hasn't taken long for us to end up with an impactful player.

Because we're winning now though, does that mean that Draper won't build on his game tally in the back half of the season? Even though we've seen the benefit? Surely we can provide more than two full games in a season for him, especially with Murphy finding a spot
Surely not. 🥲

I'm convinced that dropping Walker will only happen once they are certain he can get to 300 this year with a week off.

Pathetic, but probably true.

I think that the club prioritises this sort of crap over what is best for the team. Would rather look after Tex reaching a number than blooding in players that might actually impact in (or before) finals.

They would HATE to leave Tex on 299 or below.

Every club would want to avoid that if possible.

Not saying its what we should be doing, but while results are in our favour its exactly what will happen.

We should be fine this week but next week against the Dogs we have a short break (surprise surprise) and the Dogs have an extra three days rest on us.

We do get dudded a bit with away games especially.
Yeah Hawthorn 8 day break us 6 after showdown.
Collingwood 9 day break us 6 after Perth. Surprise Surprise.

VFL at their best.

A bit of hate setting in for Tex atm. Are we running out of players to flog?
Tex is doing his job in a good for! 22 goals so far.
Dont look at the numbers, look at the performances.

Its not Tex hate (or it shouldnt be) but its hard to argue the tall forward thing is working at the moment.

Not hard to argue at all. We are the highest scoring team atm in the comp. Tex's presence alone takes pressure off the other players.

If the club is not committed 100% on winning the premiership, they will 100% not win it.

The club has before it, the most exciting 12 weeks since 2017. That's 8 years ago!

There can be only team objectives now. Sorry Tex....but I think he'd understand.

We are 2nd, 2 points ahead of 3rd and that was built off of our high scoring in the first 3 round against shit teams.

Besides the Richmond game the output from all 3 talls had been dropping. Tex’s form had been declining and he’s moving like a truck.

Everyone loves Tex, been my favourite player, but there comes a time for every player, I really hope this is it, I’d hate to see a 2026 Tex get piled on.

Ok, who replaces Tex?

Go smaller IMO.

That said, if we were ever going to pick Burgess its now, hes in super nick.

So, Lachie Murphy?

We've already shown that our small depth is exhausted in the difficulty we've had finding someone to hold down the spot Curtin vacated (and our 4 tall structure earlier in the year also indicated that we don't have a lot of options in this space).

I'd pick Taylor again.

He couldnt do anymore than he did in the SANFL last weekend, and he's a MUCH better bet than Murphy.

So we're picking the guy who failed that badly in his last stint in the AFL side (which was only a few months ago) that he got demoted twice in the depth chart (and to the aforementioned Murphy).

Literally, pick anyone who isn't named Sid Draper (and we clearly don't see Sid as a forward) and you run into the same issues. The reason why Tex isn't being dropped is there is simply no one who is fit and worthwhile bringing in without changing our opinion on Sid (and Tex isn't a roadblock here due to the issues with replacing the 7th forward slot).

Even on the key forward side, it's the same problem. Burgess is a career depth guy. Toby Murray (who is my eventual pick) has lost this year to injury etc.
