Even at half forward if we don't have room for him on the wing would be better.

One thing I still can't explain is why we rarely use our outside mids at stoppages - especially at centre bounces. Guys like Neale and Blakely are brilliant at clearing laterally but rather than draw the outside defender and pass over the top to an open winger we just launch it on the boot inside 50. If you can get the ball to Stephen Hill, Tucker, Walters or even Wilson or Ryan out wide with some time I can almost guarantee our delivery and therefore marks inside 50 and efficiency i50 will improve dramatically. But nup, let's just thump it forward as quickly as possible because we have an 193cm KPF surrounded by 3 defenders there so that seems the percentage play.
Had the same thought today. We lack an inside mid with good skills. Alternatively we lack the ability to translate good insiders into unpressured disposals for our outsiders.

How did Crozier go today. I watched the game and apparently he was out there some where but I never noticed him. Are the bulldogs playing him out of position as well.
He did his knee early, tried to play through it.

Out: MJ (not gonna happen), DP (might happen), Sutty (probs won't happen, but might)
In: Hamling, Hughes, Duman

Let Hilly have a week in the WAFL.

What I think will happen:
Out: DP, Sutty
In: Hamling, Hughes

Essendon somehow isolating MJ on Daniher is enough to endure the worst nightmares. Can you imagine??

He would easily kick 10 on him, no contest

Did I just step into a time machine and go back one year? It’s ironic we’re talking about the same spuds getting a game over the kids. Didn’t we learn last season playing the kids gives the team more enthusiasm and the fans something to be excited about?

Hopefully Ross and the MC have the sense to call time on MJ and D Pearce’s careers and let Ballas and Sutty know they’ll be at Peel unless there’s a plethora of injuries to the young kids.
You mean Ross is thinking same, same but different? Suttclife, Sheridan just rinse repeat- dominate Peel, get a few possessions then back in AFL and spud it up. Around d and round it goes

What will probably happen:

OUT: Tucker or Langdon
IN: Sheridan

We get touched up by Essendon and then we’ll see the big changes everyone has been calling out for... exactly the same as last season.

Blakely has got to be part of the engine room,he is an inside midfielder that showed plenty when he was playing there a few seasons ago. He was then put in the backline & has become a bit stagnant, he needs to be in the thick of things. He must return to the midfield ASAP. He is a big man like Fyfe who can really make a difference to out stoppages and clearances. We were all couldn't stop talking about him when he started to really fire in the midfield.

He’s a bit too similar, he gets burnt on the break. We don’t have that powerful 85-90kg nugget with explosive pace.

Also i like to add is Rosco's coaching, he seems to play players out of position. I have yet to seem him try something different in out forward line. Every time we go forward we seem to have all the small players in there & devoid of tall players, no tall targets to kick to consequently the ball keeps getting rebounded time and time again,I am sure you like me are really sick of this ,year in year out ( the Pav was good but he got old and slow ). Taberner didn't ever appear to be down there, playing all around the ground. He needs to be permanently at CHF. The other major move I would make is resting Sandilands in the forward pocket ,regularly, why hasn't he ever tried this?? He would have the advantage of marking it or bringing it down to small players. I would also bring in Darcy and drop Kersten , he could also rotate in the forward line. What we would have then is some genuine tall targets , if we do happen to bomb it in and also use them as targets. You would the free up Mccarthy,Ballantyne and Walters to crumb instead of being the only targets.

I disagree with that assessment, it's not his pace but his prowess in getting the ball ,his reflexes with his handball. That's what he was doing a few seasons ago and getting quite a reputation.

How much distance do you think Sandi can cover from a standing start in the time a football is in the air?

Even assuming he was in front of his man at the start and read exactly where the ball was going to be immediately off the boot, there is no separation from his defender. The longer the ball is in flight the more time opposition players have to get to that spot ahead of him.

Mundy has a similar problem. Faster players look better with longer ball time in flight, they get more space on their defender but the slow players get closed down more and more as the ball carries to them.

He is not the one leading,he is resting there, the point is that ball more often then not ,if there is no other option ,the ball is kicked right to the teeth of goals, he will be the tallest player there to take advantage of that. Other players can make the leads or be the foil.

He won't mark the ball stationary as an attacking option, body spoils should completely negate it, third man from the side etc.

If we want Sandi to be an option forward we need to hold the ball, run and carry it to the 50 and kick the ball to him over 30m. All he has to do then is push his opponent and turn to mark the ball.

We don't do that.

There was a time back when Harvey was coaching ,he quite often rested forward and would take a good grab and kick a goal,i remember the opposition used to get real nervous when the ball came in his direction,Ballantyne and company were also a lot more effective being at his feet.
Ross just never rests him there.

Pending fitness there'll be changes for sure.
However I fear it won't matter much what changes we make if our execution and defensive running is of the same standard.
Will be great for us if Tom North develops rapidly and debuts early along with Crowden and of course Cerra. Notwithstanding the differing interpretation of holding the ball, chopping the arms, scragging the man, they monstered us through the middle on the weekend.
Our mids didn't seem committed to helping our defensive structures much either.
I think we'll improve markedly for Essendon but don't expect they'll be easy.
Great signs at Peel and the more improvement they show the better we'll be.
I'm confident our leaders will lift.

Those calling for Cerra to come in need to cool their jets. Reading the reports from Peel, he faded in the second half and towards the end of quarters, needs more time.
Not sure why North didn't play for Peel so I would assume he won't come in either.
Hopefully Hill and Hamling in.
