Ugly: Why does Gunston find it so easy to score against us?
We're better on big clunkers

It's mediums like Gunston and some of Brisbane's forwards who worry me more

Had a look at the game day thread and tbh at quarter time no one was really melting. No one really thought we’d burst back, but there was a fair bit of “time to step up” vibes
Funny you should say :sneaky:.
Ordinarily (ie any time in the last 5 and a half years) I'd have been spewing, you know, I'd be like "slow start, Nicks is shit, typical Crows etc :shoutyoldman::mad:" but the last 10 rounds have taught me some hard lessons and how to eat some humble pie.

I texted my sister at 1/4 time:
"Well sis ...
Hawks started red hot.
Crows, not so much :grimacing: .

I don't think the Hawks can sustain that pace but we're still four goals down and if we're not within two or three goals by three quarter time it could be trouble. I haven't given up yet but Nix got to make some positional changes and the Crows have really got to lift".
Even in there is some latent PTSD, but I was kinda right.

We were within 2 goals at 3/4 time, the Coaches had made some changes, the Crows did lift (twice).

That second quarter was electric, wiping the 4+goal deficit in half a quarter.
I'm certain the group will get a lot of confidence and belief from coming back twice.
I know I have. 10 weeks ago after that first 1/4, I'd have bet we lose that game.

Bring on Collingwood, in fact, bring on any side, any shit Umpiring and any conditions.
NO team is gonna wanna play us at Fortress AO.

great start to the weekend , and hopefully Geelong make it a great end too

Would prefer Port to win, puts Geelong 2 games behind, can't see it happening though

The funny
Ginnivans team mate shoving him telling him to pull his head in after he kicked a goal in the third after Ginnivan shows his ear to the crowd.
Nah it’s not that, day does that all the time, it’s a fire up thing they do.

"Hear that?"

Yeah.. You got owned dud. Eat it. :$ :$

Happy Antonio Banderas GIF

I missed the entire game last night due to a gig. Saw the scores until 3/4 time then in the last 20 minutes the AFL app crashed and I had nothing until some mates messaged me updates. Hard yards 😂

Watched the replay already. I expected to watch a dismal first quarter but we actually played "okay" in terms of style and intent, we just didn't execute. And then obviously we started to. Mitchell always has a plan.

Dawson, Rankine and Thilthorpe turning big games at this point is what you're after. Worrell and Milera fantastic. Dan Bloody Curtin. And the Texan.

Our midfield still baffles me but it's getting the job done, for now. I like the even spread, we don't rely on a few individuals, I guess it's just weird (maybe not the right word) that we don't have at least one high possession dominant accumulator. It goes against the grain and my instinct of how we'll win the big ones i guess!

A huge takeaway from last night and the Dogs game is winning in different ways under pressure. We aren't going to demolish these other top sides in finals. They're see-sawing games where you need to work through opposition structures and plans, to find different ways to win. We're doing that.

Port is going to get massacred. The only way Port "wins' is if Kenny to remains in Geelong and does not return to Adelaide.

This doesn't help us, though. Except maybe for the LOL's. shrugs 🤷‍♀️

If you look at Geelong's run home, it's hard to see them losing a game. However, it really doesn't impact us. We should still finish top two.

Re: Peatling of whom I was a big fan until ...
His fumble early in the first really worried me; it smacked of hearing footsteps as 2 Hawks pounced, poached the ball and goaled from it.
That kind of fumbly hesitance under pressure is not what we need going forward.

Anybody at the ground; did he just have an off-night or is there cause for concern?

Watched the game again. We have a heap of big moment players, lots of consistent ones and a few who can be quiet but do some silky stuff in the clutch.

Just another shout out of Bond who came in for the first time and didnt look out of place, cool under pressure and contributed.

Good game for Taylor after some average performances.

Milera is one I have always been sceptical of but tonight was just so tough. Some nice marks and some damage from the HB line.

Knock off Collingwood and they should go into finals believing they can beat anyone.
