Had a fun read of the Hawks board game day thread. Cripes I thought we were biased! They all believe Izak threw the ball back to TT for that goal! Also umpires were in the Crows payroll! Also would you believe it - the Fox commentators hate Hawthorn!

Lyon was raving about us during the Showdown, all week and I thought his commentary was good. After reading comments on here I expected to hear a shit show when I watched the replay. Some people are too sensitive.

We didn't beat a Victorian Club in the Showdown.

I am really surprised anyone thinks Lyon doesn’t rate us. He has raved about the crows regularly on SEN brekkie show over the last month. Agree with George here, people are being very sensitive

Just saw the full match replay.

One of those classical arm-wrestling match with plenty of exciting moments. Even though it was a tight tussle, I don’t think the scoreboard reflected our overall dominance of the game. This was in part due to the early ride for the Hawks given by the umps in the first quarter, and some questionable decisions in the last patch of the 4th quarter. We definitely had more control of the game for the majority of the match.

Good:

• TT and Worrell with their marking and constant game involvements.
• Milera is regaining serious form; seems to be entirely comfortable with his body now, and moving smooth.
• Tex with those clutch goals, still has the golden boot at the 50m range!
• Soligo regaining form, but I think he’s elevating his game to another level.
• Curtin continuing with his marking display and looking like an established veteran already.
• good wholesome team performance once again; maturity is truly palpable; we don’t shit the bed when the going gets tough.

Bad:

• Peatling had his worse game for us, but saw him do some nice things in the 3rd quarter, never stopped trying. Likely to be an anomaly game for him.
• damn ump-assisted opposition momentum!
• Worpel was apparently the only sub, when listening to the commentary; did Jones even get a mention?

Of the Fox Footy crew Buckley, Lyon, King and Montagna rate us highly. Dunstall and Brown don't give much away. Lyon can't help mentioning Sam Darcy whenever Thilthorpe does something but that doesn't mean he doesn't rate the team.

Matthews doesn't rate us, and Riewoldt borderline hates us.

As far as the umpiring goes, I re-watched the game today and the free kick count was 22 to 21, by my count should have been 27 to 19

There is a very strong working relationship between the two clubs, has been for a long time, good trading history and mutual respect etc.

The complete opposite to our relationship with Fremantle and Port Power.

IMO their Guernseys are the best in the bunch as well, which makes them even more likeable.

I've never bought an opposing clubs strip. But would be lying if I said I hadnt been tempted by an Eagles one before.

I love the fact that you’ve maintained your home guernsey for so long. Great colours and the new logo is working well. Could be the catalyst for the rise up the ladder (good luck logo haha ).

Yeah I'm not sure what people are hearing either. You can generally tell when a commentator is hating us win (Dwayne is usually dripping with contempt) but I found Friday's commentators to be pretty good. Felt like Gaz was just loving the seesawing game and made a huge point of Hawthorn not being considered to have taken advantage when they did.

I think Dunstall generally has a soft spot for us since coming over to be part of that review a few years back. But maybe not so much when playing Hawthorn.

Doesn't the Brisbane win potentially affect Top-2? and with Geelong having 4 easy games to come it's getting bloody tight at the top.

If Collingwood and Brisbane win their last 3 games they'll finish Top-2 and we'll be sparring with Geelong for 3rd/4th.

If Collingwood and Brisbane win their last 3 games they'll finish Top-2 and we'll be sparring with Geelong for 3rd/4th.

I'm somewhat happy the Collingwood game has so much riding on the result. It will be a finals test at a perfect time before the finals start. Like a full dress rehearsal.

To win would be awesome but win or lose, it will be very valuable experience for a team with almost zero finals experience.
