Good:

ROB was fine. Haters gonna hate.

We still haven't had every one fire.

Great:

We are now 1/3 through the season and sitting top 5. We have only played 1 of this years bottom 5 teams. It's an extremely even season and our losses are by 1 point (away) to the team 3rd on the ladder, 19 points to 6th on the ladder and 18 points (away) to 9th. Been tough reading the past week, but we are perfectly placed for the rest of the season. I think every single person on this forum, if asked at the beginning of the year, would have taken a 5-3 start.

Ugly:

Nank - Confidence player and his confidence is way down. Looking to do too much and is constantly.

Soligo's last month. After the first 4 rounds he looked to have established himself as a very good midfielder. Last month has been very disappointing. Wonder if he is carrying something or lacking fitness.
Nank is a half back and not a wing

He might get there as a wing but I’d be more confident he will make it as a half back

Pretty much all played well. Nank prob the only one who's looking shaky...Hinge will come back for him. I'd leave Berry as sub as he often adds a bit of spark. Draper may have to bide his time in the two's unless injury strikes again.

No, Draper is an elite talent, you definitely do not put more games into a 33 year old Smith at his expense. Draper should be one of the first ten picked, he learns nothing from SANFL except he is too good for it

Only real concern would be Soligo, same as last year starting hot and now probably in our bottom 5 on form. Don't mind Rachele in the midfield, you can guarantee he was in the coaches ear asking for mid clock.

Liked Butts game, cant explain how Borlase was ahead of him.

Berry has played the sub role well over the past year, don't think hes the answer as a core mid rotation though.

I just don’t get how other teams top draft picks, they play every game they can stomach, ours are seen as apprentices for some ****ing reason, to be held out by tradies who can’t get the job done anymore

It's not true though. Look at the last 4 drafts.

2024 Draft - Only 2 players from the 2024 draft have played more AFL games than Sid.
2023 Draft - Curtin is a bit behind - only playing 7 games in 2023. But at 197cm thats not crazy. Has played all 8 this year.
2022 Draft - Max - Has played more AFL Games than all other draftees.
2021 Draft - Rachele is 8th from his draft class with 61 AFL games (Soligo at #6)

Even in 2020 - Nicks played McAsey in 11 of the first 12 games.

Now - you can make an argument around the way we have used Curtin / Draper in their first year with regards to the SUB, but Nicks has provided young draftees with shitloads of AFL games.

Cheers Matt.

Cheers Matt.

Ha ha ha. Sharp as a tack mate! Think thats first time I have seen that used on here, so kudos.

For the record - I have wanted Nicksy gone since 2022. He is an absolute buffoon.

But when discussing how many games our young top end draftees get - its pretty black and white when you consider how many games our young draftees have been given compared to other draftees from their draft year.

Soligo's 19 disposals is not bad by any standards.

That is astounding.

Really feels like our best midfield mix for Centre bounces is Dawson, Peatling, Rankine.
TBH I don't mind Dawson in or out the CBA. I've said it all week that I'm not 100% certain him as a pure mid is the best way to utilise him. And today just emphasised that for me.

So dangerous forward and back

Good: Berry, looked good. Might be really good if he has the opportunity to play full games regularly.
Bad: Berry will remain sub next week.
Ugly: Berry dropped because he needs to get his hands on the ball despite being sub weeks in a row....

I must admit I've not been a fan of Sam Berry but he was fantastic when he came on as a sub tonight. If he plays like that more often I will be changing my mind.

Loved seeing rachele in the midfield, he looked very comfortable in there and this seemed to get his game going. Want to see more of this. Shame he got injured a few weeks ago because he's having a very good year so far.

One of the exit boom gates wasn’t working so only one exit line for about 30 minutes. Made worse by the time of day - people on their way into the city for a night out looking for a park helped clog up every floor. Eventually the boom gate began working again and we were slowly able to leave

Apparently it’s all Murray. 😜
Very droll.

Not "all", Jen, noooooo. Just the new, good stuff that works :winkv1:, which Nicks had never previously done.

Interesting/unusual stat: the Crows kicked Q1 5.3 (33) then Q2 3.4 (22) then Q3 5.3 (33) then 3.4 (22) in the last.
Probably also a Davis initiative :laughv1:.

Worrell best ( again )
Izak next

Then a group inc Dawson Max Milera Rachele Laird

Through the first 8 games it seems the blueprint is there to beat the Crows.

Shut down 2 of the 3 of Dawson, Soligo, Rankine and have an elite two way midfielder that Nicks has no idea how to stop (Serong / Bailey Smith).

Makes me very concerned about what we will do against Zak Butters.
