I know it's a seven man bench that we have atm, but I haven't been watching Rahilly's progress of late, I guess he's been performing well enough to push for selection in the Seniors? Or do they want to get him in the side to see if he has any hope of staying at the club come season's end?

fair call jessy. honestly guys, its pathetic how much some of you people bag this guy. ok, he is not in our best 22 and he probably is a fair way from it but that is no slur against his name as we have a bloody good side.

I don't think he is any chance in hell of playing this week but a part of me hopes that he does play and plays well.

I don't think he would be too far away from dj in terms of abilty and worth to the side, only difference is that dj seems to be given a chance.

C'mon guys, we all know we like to hang it on Rahilly, but he's not that bad.
Even so, I can't see where we would fit him in, with the current side as it is.

IN: King, S Johnson, Mooney, Rahilly
OUT: Tenace, D Johnson, Chambers, Callan???

My guess at our changes...if...we were to include Rahilly, that is.

Pat.

Starting this thread was no intention of mine to pay out on Rahilly, I was merely asking a question as to how his form has been of late, and whether (with our current side) he would seriously be able to crack into the seniors, there's probably a good chance that if he played for another team that he would make their starting 22 and I kind of feel for the bloke, I almost think it's a waste of his time being in our side, although the possibilities of injuries etc. he would be a handy backup.

Rahilly hasn't been given chances?

The bloke has been on our list for 8 years.
I bet some of those who got delisted after 2-3 years would love to be as hard done by as Rahilly.

My guess is that he has been included so he can be listed as an emergency when the final team gets announced. Has done enough recently to warrant that, but is clearly not in our best 30, nevermind the best 22.

I am referring to right now phat and not over a career time frame... right now it seems as though dj is getting his chances at senior level whereas jimmy isn't. I am not suggesting that that shouldn't be the case either. unfortunately for jimmy's sake he may well be in the best in the seconds every week this year and still not get another crack at senior level.

Didn't we sign him to a 4 yr deal a couple of years ago? He's had more chances than anyone at our club, any criticism he's getting on here is warranted.

criticism from who?? people who have not played a game of afl like yourself renegade??

I am not debating that he has had more chances (in terms of playing years) than any other player on our list - but does that automatically mean that HE should be criticised??

Not offense to the bloke but he is a joke of a players whos skills havent improved in 4 yrs, not sure why ther r doing this, i suspect just to give him some confidence but no way does he get a game ever this season

della!

You don't play 80 odd games of AFL without a bit of talent. I reckon we should give him a shot.

Hes had his chances and proven he doesnt have the foot skills required to make it at AFL level. The only reason he still remains is because Graham left, he is a very lucky man and we wont go very far if he is good enough to get games in the seniors.

If callan misses because of rahilly its a disgrace.

Lets look to the future and callan IS the replacement to sando.

I seriously cant beleive people are wanting him in the side

I'm not so sure that Callan is the replacement for Sando. I haven't seen much of him (probably only 5 games, I've never seen a Geelong reserves game), but I think DJ may be the replacement for Sando. While Callan has better skills than Johnson, I think Johnson is a far more similar player to Sando, he is hard, tough and has a no fuss approach, he is not afraid to stand in front of a pack and take a mark, and is then happy to run the ball out of defence. Now this is not to say that Callan doesn't have these attributes, but I think with his flair and speed, he may be more valuable as a midfielder who can play in defence or attack as well. What does everyone else think of this? Perhaps some comments from people who have seen more of him than me.

As you mentioned, Callan brings a hard, tough, no fuss approach game complete with courage and rebounding skills week in week out.

He is naturally a small defender, and is thus a better replacement for Sando than DJ will ever be. Where Callan is a defender who can have a run as an onballer, DJ is an onballer (tagger if you will) who can have a run in defence.

The highlighted section is the absolute strength of Tim Callan's game.

He backs back into packs with enormous courage more than anyone else on the list and is the best i have ever seen at spoiling a marking contest as the third man in.

Definite heir apparent to Sanderson.
