I don't see Hobbes as any great liberal in a contemporary setting, but each to their own.
More so historical forefather to later liberal individuals like Locke, as well as many modern political philosophers.

Hobbes has a few things in common with liberal conservativism, even though Burke later formulated conservatism into an actual movement.

On the flip side don't assume that there are others that don't admire certain attributes about their country and Trump.

Being proud and loving your country is a positive thing. He wants to put US first.

I know it's the done thing these days to shoot down any male that shows some actual confidence but showing strength and leadership is better than having the meekness of a wet lettuce leaf.

Hard to be objective when you're not from the US and you're a feminist with strong progressive viewpoints. Anything Trump does is going to automatically make your eye twitch.

Trump doesn't love his country, he loves himself. He is hubris and ignorance in equal doses. He is exactly as the ex-British Ambassador described him: "uniquely dysfunctional, inept, and insecure".

And I would feel exactly the same way about him if he were a woman. His sex has nothing to do with it. Which, by the way, I'm not a feminist. And also by the way, the US is my next-door neighbour. I live right next to the border. I know them quite well.

Not going to get into another long dragged-out Trump debate with you though, because I know that you love him, so this conversation will go nowhere. I will, however, continue to post Trump hilarity bits as they come up from time to time. If nothing else, he does make us laugh.

I'm not interested in it either. It's 2 differing viewpoints that won't change at the moment.

I don't love him. I think he's a good leader and has done some good things. I'd prefer him over any of the democratic candidates hands down. He was a buffoon with his recent Bitcoin/cryptocurrency tweets. I'm also reserving judgement on the social media summit until more comes out because I feel like he's let a lot of people down especially those that supported his 2016 election.

Last sentence is correct. He will bring laughs for many years to come. Even after 2024 his tweets will have more power and create more talking points than the next president and if that person is a democrate...well...let the games continue!

This is solely why he's president. He's not THEM.

It's the same reason Morrison is the prime minister.

Thoughts on Tulsi Gabbard?

Reckon 2020 is hers to lose.

I don't have thoughts about her. She's just their version of Trump, and she'll also toe the party line.

JJ throwing up the white power sign. Glad he’s gone from Philly 🤬

She’s not a bad troll herself

No. No. No.

1. It's not a white power sign. 4chan posters made it a meme and gullible people fell for it hook, line and sinker.

2. Lol. She is nowhere near smart enough to troll. She actually believes what she says which makes it scary and disturbing. But is also good for her because it makes her comes across as passionate. Ignorance is bliss.

3. wat. That's probably the most outrageous thing I've read in this thread. I like her. She has a good background and probably my favourite democratic candidate but come on...she had the least amount of air time in the debate and there is a reason for that. She is probably the most conservative democrate (arguable with Biden) so won't capture a big enough audience. She is middle of the pack and will rival the likes of Booker and Yang.

Harris/Biden/Sanders - it's out of those 3 (Pocahontas the HM). Harris went on the offensive against Biden in the debates which was positive for her and thanks to her history she could potentially fight fire with fire when it comes to Trump. Not to mention she gets two bonus points for voters (1x female + 1x minority). Two things her campaign managers will be happy to remind everyone on the hour every hour.

The white power thing was a piss take. I’ve made my feelings known on that. It’s a joke.

The rest, meh. Intelligence? The current Pres thinks there were airports in the American fight for independence

Feds want to fingerprint journos reporting on special forces war crimes.

Meanwhile, resident useful idiots to the emergent policed state post YouTube vidoes about meaningless culture war bullshit.

Chief goose at the AFP resigns same day as this breaks - no surprise.

But no, the important thing to pay attention to is GENDER QUOTAS or some bullshit squabble between schoolkids and a Native American and how that was "unfairly reported by the MSM".

Without reading, is it another Joe Hildebrand opinion piece that uses thousands of words to say nothing of substance?
He’s quite guilty of that, but he makes a few good points amongst the excessive posturing.

Dutton came up as a Queensland copper in a force that had just had its quasi-fascistic powers broken by a ABC journalist Chris Masters and Four Corners.

Never forget that.

Or that it was Anthony Dowsley at the Hun who kept pushing the Nicola Gobbo scandal when the cops thoughts they had got away with it.

Thanks for those two perfect examples of whataboutism. Not every one comes across the same stories or cares about the exact same topics.

You're bordering on Soft Downhill Skiier with his "who cares about Ngo incident when white supremacists are doing x". Dates matter. Weren't gender quotas discussed last year and the Covington Kid incident in Jan :drunk:. Fair enough if they happened at the same time and not months apart. Clutching at straws here Jean.

Imagine being so egotistical that you think every one should follow the same topics that you do :$
