Make sure you do the whole finals series, and supply each series' best 3 players.
I’ll do Gary Ayers medal voting 1.5x weighting in GFs. That crushes his chances immediately.

Do it. Despite that only being introduced in the past few seasons. If that makes you more confident his performances will be downgraded.I’ll do Gary Ayers medal voting 1.5x weighting in GFs. That crushes his chances immediately.
As I said, A NS is a reward for the performance in ONE game. Admittedly a very important game. It is a huge honour no doubt. But it does not compare to awards based on performance across the whole season. And you can only get a NS if your team gets you to a gf.You didn’t even consider NS in your tally meaning you think it’s inferior to a B&F in a s**t kicker side. Do you stand by that?

I think you'll be surprised.

Ok prove me wrong. Rate his GFs great, good, average or poor. GO.
And actually his dad as well.
Good
Great
Great
Poor
Not sure what his dad has to do with it.
75 per cent of his big games huh? So what about his other big games. You said he flopped in 75 per cent of his biggest games. Don’t back away from it - he didn’t flop in them did he. And in all the other big games available to him he was pretty much either very good or exceptional as well. The fact that you’re clinging on to a game he played when he was 36 and a half years old like a life raft is pretty indicative of how desperate you are.
Probably the best ever played
Good
Bad
Bad
What’s your point.
Wow that’s bad he’s a non factor in 07 and wouldn’t get any votes. Yet he’s still good, either set your bar higher or we start rating Dustys godlike.
And if you don’t get the point of analysing GFs when talking about finals records. Then there is something seriously wrong.

I mean Buckley has 1 NS from 2 losing grand finals. How do you fairly compare that with Dusty's 3 from 3 winning grand finals?
Even if you included Norm Smith's and discounted GAJ's GC bnf's, Dusty's still coming in last on that list on an objective awards basis.
Just make sure you watch the games as opposed to analysing via AFLTABLES.COMAnd again you are rating the following
19 and 1 as good
25 and 1 as great
This is utter delusion.
They are respectively average and good. Prestia gets those numbers and you guys don’t bat an eye.
Sharing that is not you watching the game.Oh I remember them well. Ablett 09 GF would struggle to be in the top 5 players on the ground. But it’s apparently “GREAT” with 2 NS votes which are both 1’s.

Equal 4th best on the ground in Norm Smith votes, one of 3 players to receive votes from multiple judges. Best midfielder on the ground despite a hard tag, wet conditions, involved in the play that sealed the result.
Will be interesting to see whether he receives the 3, 2, 1, or 0 in your Gary Ayres Medal equivalent voting system. (Assuming Chapman and Gram receive the 5 and 4)
Anyway, assess in consideration of his other finals - you know, the games where apparently he flopped in 75% of them....

Hang in, you said he flopped?
Hang on.07 nothing
08 2 votes
09 nothing
He’s only top 3 once and it was 2nd place. But it goes to 3 votes with GF weighting. So at least he’s got that.
2020 is also nothing
That’s why I said 75%. 3/4 GFs don’t get top 3 from anybody. Even the NS voters.
If Prestia or anyone else played Ablett’s game in the 2009 grand final irrespective of numbers - and we all know you’ve never bothered watching the game - anyone would walk away and say he’d played a great game.
Ok. Let's increase this list to 7 players and include Dion Prestia.Prestia kicked 28 and 2 in the 2019 prelim where we came back from behind. It’s better than GAJs 25 and 1 and nobody is pumping up Dion.

So you're working out the retrospective Gary Ayres Medallists, though only giving votes to the top 3 on the ground (instead of 5), and giving a 1.5 rating for the Grand Final that was only introduced in 2022?No I said top 3 gets votes
GAJ got equal 4th barely so he gets no votes. Do you actually read?

Why don't you just do it properly?
Then you're giving the final top 3 players for each of the finals series between 2007 and 2010.
Maybe explain what you're planning to work out, and how you're planning to work it out. Then we can determine whether it's going to be worth our while to read it.Norm Smith votes are given on a 3,2,1 rating system and 1.5x GF votes. What tf is wrong with you?
Using AA and Bnf and Brownlow to rank them:
Ablett: 8, 6, 2
Buckley: 7, 6, 1
Judd: 6, 5, 2
Hird: 5, 5, 1
Voss: 5, 5, 1
Martin: 4, 2,
David Teague won a BNF, they mean sfa when trying to judge greatness. But we are comparing Dusty and GAJ in this thread so it’s 1 NS in a winning GF or 4 B&Fs in a shitkicker side with the 18 year olds. So you think the B&Fs are superior then?
