If you had to have one as coach, who would you choose?

A little unfair on Voss to compair with the concessions Ratten has been handed, also being in the roll a shorter period of time, Yet for me i say voss.
A fair comparison after trade week as it seems both playing groups have lost faith in the coaching / administration of the club. Both look to lack any long term planning skills, with Ratten neglect of KPP's embarrassing, and Voss ability to manange the salary cap.
Both have failed in installing any type of game plan, and have little respect from the players but Voss looks to have more upside as a coach IMO.

If you ask Greg Swann, he went out of his way to get Vossy's signature as coach.

I reckon some of the coaches I encountered in the VAFA were more switched on these 2.

if i had to choose it would be ratten. i think he has more a bit more coaching ability, but im not sure why or what that ability is. just the feeling i get

ratten is liked and respected by his players. voss is feared... i mean, really feared. he has already shown his merciless attitude towards his players in the bradshaw affair.

voss has sent the message that it doesn't matter who you are or how much blood you have spilled for the club, you will be beheaded at the right price.

I'll take the guy who has actually won a finals match thanks.

Hahaha, pure gold response to SC.

Ratten.

Brown, Richardson and Barker wanted to work under Ratten who didn't pay through the nose for a problem forward.

Clarkson wanted to keep Barker.

Ratts was smart enough to move on Lappin who tried to turn Betts into a lead up forward.

Actually, all wanted to get a position where they would feel "wanted" at a senior level capacity in AFL. Richo was gone at Essendon with Hirdy assembling his own team, there was no spot for Rowdy in the Collingwood setup outside of VFL and Barker had virtually been axed by the Hawks. Not potting the blokes because Richo and Rowdy were awesome for us but don't confuse "smart career moves" with wanting to work "under Ratten". Also, Greg Swann was pretty influential, particularly with the former Collingwood duo. Ratten is on very thin ice.

As for the OP, this would be a suicidal predicament to be in. There is no positive outlook with either option but I'd probably choose Ratten simply because Voss has no idea what he is doing.

Are they wanting to work under Ratten or can they sniff a senior coaching opportunity there for the taking?

Voss as he knows what he's doing. It's just that the players aren't responding to what he is wanting them to do.

Voss for sure.
If we had Voss we'd go back to where we started years ago, giving away picks for average, recycled players, almost lose "half a side" recruiting one player, lose 16 of our last 18 and finish on or near the bottom. Yep, sounds like where we were. Very familiar.

Yet 21 out of 31 so far have picked Voss. Just shows one has to check their brains in by the keyboard so one can assimilate with the BF crowd at their level.

Aint Voss' job to manage the cap son. Alot of the damage at the moment is left over from Gubby Allen. The club has come out and said it's number one priority is getting TPP's more aligned with performance. In other words, paying the guys who deserve it and pissing off the rest.

Nice omission of the insane salary cap rorting which virtually forced you to pick up recycled players.

With Ratten? It's a bit like dodging a bullet with a noose.

Ratten played in a winning GF,so did Voss so has Jimmy Herd so i'd take those 3 over that Buckley guy;)
